I have been out of the country twice this year. The first time, I was in Mexico when protests broke out in Ferguson, Missouri, over the shooting death of Michael Brown; more recently, my two weeks in Argentina coincided with nationwide demonstrations against the lack of grand jury indictments in the cases of Brown and Eric Garner, the Staten Island police chokehold victim. Witnessing a nascent anti-police brutality movement from a distance has given me a different perspective on it, because the novelty of getting out in the streets in America and demanding justice stands in stark contrast to the...

NYPD Cops Shoot Synagogue Stabber Screaming: “I Want to Kill the Jew!â€Posted By Daniel Greenfield On December 9, 2014 @ 10:13 am In The Point | 62 Comments The stabbing victim At a time when angry progressives are denouncing the NYPD, this is an important reminder that the thin blue line is all that stands between ordinary people and murderous thugs filled with rage and hate who remain on the streets thanks to the aid given to them by progressives. I wouldn’t be surprised if this shooting leads to protesters holding a ‘die in’ at the synagogue while screaming “I...

Adam Rose, Reuters December 10, 2014 Brent crude remained above $66 barrel on Wednesday, after resuming its drift downward amid a glut of oil on the market, following a short-lived reprieve the previous day when a weaker dollar had provided some support to prices. Worries about oversupply have pushed Brent down 40% since June. "Notwithstanding day-to-day movements, the fundamental picture hasn't really changed, and that is one of supply outstripping demand growth for most of the year," said Phin Ziebell, a senior analyst at National Australia Bank. "It's an incessant march downwards, and it would be interesting to see where...

Everyone likes presents; even murderous Muslim terrorists. That must be why Obama decided to give ISIS, Hamas and Al Qaeda an early Christmas present by freeing their followers from Guantanamo Bay and dispatching them to Uruguay. Why Uruguay? It’s one of several South American countries run by Marxist terrorists. Uruguayan President Jose Mujica, a former Marxist terrorist, already offered to take in Syrian refugees and a number of the freed Gitmo Jihadists are Syrians who trained under the future leader of what would become ISIS. If they stay on in Uruguay, they can try to finish the job of killing...

The Senate CIA Report and Democratic TreacheryPosted By Arnold Ahlert On December 10, 2014 @ 12:55 am In Daily Mailer,FrontPage | 6 Comments On Tuesday, the Senate Intelligence Committee released the 500-page executive summary of the report on the CIA’s enhanced interrogation of terrorist detainees. Democrats, the media and Republican Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) are using it as an opportunity to hammer the CIA and the Bush administration, while American embassies, military units and other U.S. interests are preparing for possible reprisals. But adding further threats to Americans already in harm’s way matters not. Beleaguered congressional Democrats are desperate for a political boon and have...

Note: The segment referred to in this column can be viewed by clicking on this link. Last week, I had a chance to film a segment on "The Kelly File" with Megyn Kelly. It was a short interview, running a total of just five minutes. For many viewers, one small portion of the interview, running less than thirty-seconds, overshadowed the rest of our exchange. Take a moment to watch the video portion between the 2:20 –and 2:45 mark. This was the point where many viewers perceived that Megyn was correcting me for using the label “pro abortion” instead of the label...

The Osprey has always lacked firepower in its forward hemisphere. Beyond its ramp-mounted gun, various concepts have been tested and fielded in an attempt to provide fire towards where the aircraft is headed, not just where it has been. This issue is compounded by the fact that the Osprey outruns traditional helicopter gunship escorts, but a solution may have finally arrived. Now, the Bell and Boeing consortium that manufacturers the Osprey is looking to overcome this handicap in a big way, through rocket and missiles pods mounted on the Osprey's cheeks. The results of which could change the way the...

Police Shootings & Race, in an Age of LiesPosted By John Perazzo On December 10, 2014 @ 12:53 am In Daily Mailer,FrontPage | 5 Comments In an era where public debate is replete with Big Lies, we are routinely treated to examples of shallow, insipid journalism dedicated to propping up the most nonsensical fictions imaginable. A case in point is a piece that appeared in the far-left periodical Mother Jones, titled “Exactly How Often Do Police Shoot Unarmed Black Men?” Purporting to explain the root causes of the racial unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, the article’s author, Mother Jones editorial coordinator...

My favorite restaurant in Yuma is the Yummy Yummy at 2241 Avenue A. It is in the corner of the strip mall and easy to miss. It isn't a fancy place, rather utilitarian, with ridiculously low prices and excellent food. The service is good, but as the place is litterally a mom and pop (the mother speaks English, Spanish, and Chinese fluently), do not expect to have her hovering over your table. For the cost of a drink at most bars, you can get a complete meal, if you drink water. They have $5 specials that are always available,...

Lawmakers in this state and around the country are pressuring this state to repeal the sweeping gun control measures passed last year, but Governor-elect Larry Hogan promises he will keep the law in place. (snip) During this fall’s gubernatorial campaign, Democrats repeatedly attacked Hogan for his position on gun control, specifically regarding the National Rifle Association’s endorsement of Hogan. “This endorsement is based on Hogan’s support for and commitment to the Second Amendment. Larry Hogan respects the rule of law and the Second Amendment rights of Maryland’s law-abiding citizens,” an NRA news release said. Hogan repeatedly promised throughout the campaign...

No parent wants to consider the travesty that when he sends his 18-year-old daughter to college, she could be vulnerable to sexual assault. But in the increasingly punitive atmosphere surrounding sexual-assault allegations, he should also fear sending his 18-year-old son to campus, where he may be falsely accused of rape. The national media are deeply feminist. Their default position is the presumption that "the victim" is the female accuser. Some pundits have even argued in national newspapers that the accuser should be "automatically believed." This is a serious problem for the left. First, they are the ones who have been...

People argue about whether the "consensus" of scientists is that we face disaster because of global warming. Instead of debating whether man's greenhouse gasses will raise temperatures, we should argue about how we gauge disasters. If you take most environmentalists and climate scientists at their word, the Earth heated up about 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit over the past century, not much more than it heated up the century before that. Warming may increase, but no one can be certain of that. Let's agree for the sake of argument that this recent warming was partly caused by humanity. Let's also agree that...

Illinois Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka has died, less than 24 hours after having a stroke. A statement from her office says the 70-year-old Topinka died early Wednesday morning following complications from the stroke. She'd reported discomfort and was admitted to a hospital in Berwyn. After undergoing testing, she lost consciousness Wednesday and was pronounced dead shortly after 2 a.m. Topinka, a Republican, won a second term last month in a tough race with Democratic challenger Sheila Simon, the former lieutenant governor.

The same day ObamaCare architect Jonathan "Stupid Americans" Gruber swore before Congress that there wasn't any deception involved in getting it passed, an inspector general report showed how the law continues to mislead the public. Writing off an advance copy of the report, the New York Times said the Health and Human Services IG found "half of the providers" listed as serving Medicaid patients "could not offer appointments to enrollees."

President Barack Obama believes that the nationwide demonstrations over Ferguson and Eric Garner's death are "necessary" to trigger America's "conscience" so long as they are "peaceful."

The Senate GOP will debate restoring the filibuster today, a move which, if agreed to, will firmly hang a "kick me" sign on their collective rear-end.I wrote about this last month for the Washington Examiner, and since then Orrin Hatch and Ted Cruz -- a pretty broad spectrum of the Senate GOP, that -- have argued for the common sense and good politics position of keeping the rules as they are after the Democrats broke them. The lame duck Congress has already angered the base over its proposed cut to military pay and benefits, and now proposes to white flag the filibuster issue when instead...
