CNN's Piers Morgan seized on a recent "expose" of Pastor Rafael Cruz by Mother Jones to trash his Tea Party star son as "scary." The magazine cited the elder Cruz's "extreme views" in several speeches he gave to evangelicals and the Tea Party. "Rafael Cruz blends the far reaches of extreme conservatism and Christian fundamentalism," the article said. Among his "inflammatory remarks," Cruz said Obama believes "government is your god" and has "a clear agenda to destroy American exceptionalism" and redistribute wealth. What else is new? The leftist publication complains the immigrant-turned-successful-entrepreneur has an outsized influence over his son. So,...

HealthCare.gov launched only one month ago, and yet thousands upon thousands of people have started to receive letters telling them that they no longer have insurance at all. A new site, “MyCancellation.com,” has been created to showcase such letters, and it has already received an avalanche of documents from dissatisfied Americans. Just today, dozens of documents have been posted, declaring that the individual’s health care, once a trusted source, is now cancelled. Why? The President’s “Affordable” Care Act. Here are just a few posted today (please note, not all letters were written today; they were simply posted online today):

(VIDEO-AT-LINK)Sarah Palin may be once again dreaming of the White House and a run for the presidency in 2016. After a long absence from the political arena, Palin appears to be strategically increasing her appearances and speeches while also taking solid aim at President Obama. This has led many political experts to conclude that she is aiming to enter the 2016 presidential race, or at least is trying to test the waters for a potential run. The rumors kicked up a bit this week when a spokesman for the Rev. Billy Graham announced that Sarah Palin will be a guest...

DAVIE, Fla. Suspended Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito sent text messages to teammate Jonathan Martin that were racist and threatening, according to multiple reports. Both CBSSsports.com's Jason La Canfora and the Associated Press confirmed the unsettling content of the exchange via anonymous sources because the Dolphins and NFL haven't disclosed the nature of the misconduct that led to Incognito's suspension. The 319-pound Incognito, a ninth-year pro, is white. The 312-pound Martin, who is in his second NFL season, is biracial. Incognitio allegedly called Marin a "half-n*****," reports La Canfora.

A federal trial to determine whether Wisconsin's controversial voter identification law discriminates against minorities is scheduled to begin on Monday in a case seen as a possible precedent for similar laws in other states. Voter ID laws - which require government-issued identification before voting - have become a political and racial flashpoint across the United States. Democrats generally oppose the measures and many Republicans back them. The trial in Milwaukee combines two federal lawsuits filed on behalf of dozens of individual voters by several organizations including the League of United Latin American Citizens, Milwaukee Area Labor Council and the American...

Young people are key for the Affordable Care Act to work, and as a result of a half-million-dollar grant by the California Endowment, TV shows regularly consumed by these young people will soon be weaving Obamacare into plotlines in order to get more of them enrolled in the health care program. If you’ve ever watched Modern Family or New Girl and thought, “Gee, if only I was learning about the benefits of a complex federal program during this, it would be so much better,” you’re in luck! The 18-month grant, to the Lear Center’s Hollywood Health & Society program, will be...

A stroll in an English park has a dog hailed a hero, and quite possibly saved the life of a baby. According to the Birmingham Mail newspaper, a German shepherd named Jade was walking with its owner when the dog ran and laid down next to a bag discarded in shrubs. When the owner inspected what his pet had found, he discovered a newborn baby girl. He ran to a friend's home to call the authorities, saying he didn't touch the bag so he wouldn't contaminate any evidence. According to reports, the hospital where the baby was taken has nicknamed...

THE RADICALISM OF BILL DE BLASIO By Stanley Kurtz NRO 9/23/2013 Today’s New York Times features an in-depth look at the radical background of Bill de Blasio, the man poised to become the next mayor of New York. De Blasio is a longtime admirer and supporter of Nicaragua’s Marxist Sandinistas. He helped raise funds for the Sandinistas in the 1980s, subscribed to the party’s newspaper, Barricadda (Barricade), and unlike many others, remained supportive even after the Sandinistas lost power. To this day de Blasio speaks admiringly of the Sandinistas (while offering some token criticism of their handling of dissent), and...

President Obama turned blogger on Sunday night, making an impassioned plea in the Huffington Post for Congress to pass a long-delayed measure to ban workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation. The bill, called the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, or ENDA, is set for a Senate vote on Monday, and proponents are upbeat about its prospects for passage.

Google executive chairman Eric Schmidt called reports of the U.S. government spying on the company's data centers "outrageous" and if proven true, potentially illegal. "It's really outrageous that the National Security Agency (NSA) was looking between the Google data centers, if that's true," Schmidt told The Wall Street Journal. "The steps that the organization was willing to do without good judgment to pursue its mission and potentially violate people's privacy, it's not OK." According to Schmidt, Google has registered complaints against President Obama, the NSA and members of Congress.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton hasn’t even started her 2016 presidential campaign yet — and she’s already shutting out the press. Clinton’s speech at the Moscone Center on Saturday will be blacked out — closed to the media. So will her big fundraiser Saturday night with Chelsea Clinton, a “Millennial Network” event to benefit the Clinton Foundation. Seriously? In San Francisco? The easiest Democratic audience in the country? This is the progressive bastion where — as one political wag put it – the biggest problem may be how many chairs to remove so Hillary fans can better prostrate themselves...

The director of the Holy See press office has clarified that Pope Francis has not presented a questionnaire to Catholics worldwide to consult on homosexual unions and divorced persons, as some news outlets have reported. This assertion, made by Italian daily il Fatto Quotidiano among others, is “not true” and in fact the basis is “only a document sent to bishops' conferences throughout the world by the secretary general of the synod of bishops, Archbishop Lorenzo Baldisseri, in preparation for the synod of bishops,” Fr. Federico Lombardi told CNA Nov. 2. He added that the synod, which will be held...

A suspect was arrested after a Scottsdale homeowner stopped a potential burglary in his backyard. Richard Woodson, 29, reportedly went into a storage room in the backyard of a house in the 4200 block of N. 81st Street in Scottsdale, according to a police report. The owner of the house, Jim Craft, saw the suspect and confronted him, at which point the suspect tried to leave. "I knew at that point he was mounting the bike and had one leg over it and if I didn't stop him at that time, he would be gone," Craft said.

Little more than a week after millions of consumers received health care cancellation notices, lawmakers in both parties are pushing legislation to redeem President Barack Obama's long-ago pledge that anyone liking their coverage will be allowed to keep it under the nation's controversial new law. The result is a stern new challenge for the White House as it struggles to fix website woes for the signup portal for those seeking to enroll under the law, and simultaneously copes with angry consumers who rightly or wrongly blame "Obamacare" for cancellation letters mailed by insurers. Democratic officials said top administration aides got...

It seems that the staff of the National Schismatic Reporter (aka Fishwrap) didn’t get the memo. The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, in March 2012, issued a “Notification” (i.e., a really serious warning, an authoritative and official judgment from the Church) about the bad theology of Sr. Margaret Farley, RSM, in her spectacularly bad book Just Love. A Framework for Christian Sexual Ethics. HEREYou will remember Sr. Margaret from the now infamous post NUNS GONE WILD (If you are a relatively new reader here, go read that post!) A reminder: Margaret Farley: over the years, she has taken positions favorable to abortion,...
