LITHONIA, Ga. -- A burglar who broke into a Lithonia home was shot in the buttocks by the homeowner, police said. The burglary happened at about 11:30 a.m. at the home on Gadwell Circle. The intruder was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries, police said. The intruder’s name was not released.

Here is video of Glenn Beck today talking about the huge story of undercover video showing ACORN workers in Baltimore being caught trying to help a couple pretending to be a prostitute and her pimp in figuring out how to make the enterprise acceptable to the IRS. They also sought to guide the couple as to how to help them with getting a house for their enterprise, which was to include bringing underage children into the U.S. to be prostitutes. Deere & Co. (DE) will put 367 employees on indefinite layoff at its East Moline, Ill., factory later this month due to reduced demand. The world's largest maker of farm equipment has been shedding jobs at several of its factories by a few hundred employees at a time throughout the year because of the demand slump. The U.S. poverty rate hit its highest level in 11 years in 2008 as the worst recession since the Great Depression threw millions of Americans out of work, a government report showed on Thursday. The Census Bureau said the poverty rate -- the percentage of people living in poverty -- jumped to 13.2 percent, the highest level since 1997, from 12.5 percent in 2007.
