I remember when the UK first announced that a handful of Sharia Courts had opened there. People across the Internet were saying that is was no big deal, that is was just like Beth Din, Jewish Courts. My argument was that Jews are not looking to impose religious laws on the UK and that Pandora's Box had been opened. That the sharia loving Muslims of the UK would keep on pushing until they get full Sharia Law implemented in these courts. The push just got stronger.

Gallup finds organized labor taking a significant image hit in the past year. While 66% of Americans continue to believe unions are beneficial to their own members, a slight majority now say unions hurt the nation's economy. More broadly, fewer than half of Americans -- 48%, an all-time low -- approve of labor unions, down from 59% a year ago.

Public schools around the country have recieved their orders. Broadcast the president's message on September 8 and follow with a carefully worded "feel good" q&a period. Some schools have taken the initiative to simply say no. Others have taken the position that the speech WILL be shown to a "captive" audience during civics class, extended study, whatever. Then there's a 3rd position, which is the "option" to choose to stay or not. Supply a note to the school prior to the viewing and they will be excused to go to the library. This "option" is the Obama administrations preference. It...

"Here at Project Vote Smart, Americans young and old volunteer their time, take no money from special interest groups, and have committed themselves to an extraordinary effort that, if successful, will provide their fellow citizens with the tools for a reemergence of political power not known for half a century. Their idea is one you may have thought of yourself. It is a deceptively simple concept but enormously difficult to achieve and would not be possible without the collaboration of citizens willing to lay their partisan differences aside for this one crucial task. " Get Information on those running for...

What happened to President Obama? His wax wings having melted, he is the man who fell to earth. What happened to bring his popularity down further than that of any new president in polling history save Gerald Ford (post-Nixon pardon)? .... Let's be clear: This is a fall, not a collapse. He's not been repudiated or even defeated. He will likely regroup and pass some version of health insurance reform that will restore some of his clout and popularity.

President of the John Birch Society, John. F. McManus gives a damning presentation in 1996 on the real Newt Gingrich, who at the time was Speaker of Congress. Here's an excerpt: 'In addition to Gingrich's disdain for the constitution he has managed to acquire a reputation as a brash, unfeeling and arrogant know it all. His negative rating among the American peoeple is higher than Bill Clinton's. Democratic candidates from coast to coast are looking forward to tying their Republican opponents to the controversy surrounding the Speaker, controversy that has been created by the speaker himself. A very astute observer...

Afghanistan is spiraling out of control. Deaths are mounting and the security situation is deteriorating. It's clear we need a new strategy. The General there, General McChrystal, has given his outline. After two of the deadliest months of the war in Afghanistan, the commander of U.S. forces there said Monday that “success is achievable” but will require a change in strategy.

Over at the DailyKos they're having a poll about who they would rather have president under their nightmare scenario of the tea party putting one of the two in office. The only choices are: "President Sarah Louise Palin" or "President Michele Marie Bachman" - Be still my heart. I voted SP, but I really wanted to vote Palin/Bachmann '12 and '16 and Bachmann/Liz Cheney '20 and '24, Liz Cheney '28 ...

We now have definitive proof that the Washington Post is intentionally generating in-kind contributions to the Creigh Deeds campaign in Virginia. Having taken out George Allen over his macaca comment, the Washington Post intends to politically assassinate Virginia Attorney General Bob McDonnell for his college thesis written over 20 years ago. How do we know? Because of their coverage of Green Jobs Czar Van Jones. The Washington Post has written exactly zero stories on Van Jones despite the very real and serious story — Barack Obama has hired, without congressional oversight, a man designated to spend $80 billion in tax...

Can you imagine the TV ads the Republicans can run against congessional Democrats next year if Van Jones is not fired. Van Jones will be the gift that keeps on giving.

Liberals ready to strike out at White House over Afghanistan surge By Jared Allen - 09/05/09 09:02 AM ET Liberals in Congress, already angry about healthcare reform, are sharpening their swords for a fight with the administration over Afghanistan. They have opened one front with the White House on a public option for healthcare but are ready to open a second front on Afghanistan, even if it damages a president whose success is dependent on a strong record of accomplishment. According to one House Democrat, the calls to end U.S. military intervention in Afghanistan are growing louder and coming from...

Here is video of bride laughing uncontrollably during her wedding vows after the groom said during his vows, he took her to be his "wawfully" instead of "lawfully" wedded wife. He then threw in for good measure after "wawfully" -- "and pancaky." His bride totally lost it. . . . (Video)

In a nationally televised educational address next Tuesday Barack Obama is scheduled to, according to the Department of Education, “challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning.” Concerns by many Americans that Mr. Obama’s televised address to schoolchildren will simply represent a forum for socialist indoctrination are wildly “overwrought” according to a Wall Street Journal editorial today: “America's children are not so vulnerable that we need to slap an NC-17 rating on Presidential speeches. Given how many minority children struggle in school, a pep talk from the first African-American President could even do some...

Stable employment is increasingly hard to find these days. But there is one industry that, despite a sharp decrease in revenue, is on a hiring binge. This from bizjournals.com: Federal agencies will add more than 270,000 employees during the next three years, according to a report from the Partnership for Public Service. The total projected hiring for “mission-critical jobs” is expected to jump more than 40 percent during fiscal 2010 to 2012 from the previous three years. I’m always curious to know what federal bureaucrats consider “mission critical” (their own jobs top the list I suppose). The Cash for Clunkers...

NAACP Continues its Support of Special Advisor of Green Jobs Van Jones and the White House Green Jobs Initiative. The NAACP is calling for civility in the national discourse on safe, clean communities and sustainable sources of domestic energy. It is time to end the personal attacks on administration officials as a distraction to crucial discussion on our nation and our world's environmental conditions. NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous: “It is sad and unfortunate that our nation's precious airwaves and cable television time are being occupied with the unscrupulous, diversionary tactics launched by right wing extremists such as...

The economy may be growing again, but employers aren't hiring. Despite an emerging economic expansion, businesses were sufficiently skittish about the future that the job market continued its long, steep decline in August, according to a new government report Friday. The unemployment rate rose to 9.7 percent, from 9.4 percent, as employers shed jobs for the 20th straight month, the Labor Department said. The increase was greater than many analysts had forecast, and it undermined hopes that the corporate sector will rapidly rebuild its workforce following the economic trauma of the last year. That in turn could keep a self-sustaining...

They're all over him -- swarms, flocks, flights of critics taking apart President Obama: his style, his motives, his modus operandi, assuming he has one. Charles Krauthammer, in a dead-on column, called him "Obama the Mortal." Peggy Noonan, in the Wall Street Journal, sought to close the deal: "Obama has grown boring ... He always has the same stance. There is no humor or humility in it ... He is cold ..." Cries of alarm escaped the mouth of Time Magazine's Joe Klein: "He has to lead, clearly and decisively, starting now." How's he going to restore his sagging popularity...
