Liberals ready to strike out at White House over Afghanistan surge By Jared Allen - 09/05/09 09:02 AM ET

Liberals in Congress, already angry about healthcare reform, are sharpening their swords for a fight with the administration over Afghanistan.

They have opened one front with the White House on a public option for healthcare but are ready to open a second front on Afghanistan, even if it damages a president whose success is dependent on a strong record of accomplishment.

According to one House Democrat, the calls to end U.S. military intervention in Afghanistan are growing louder and coming from a larger and more diverse crowd.

On the heels of the deadliest month to date for U.S. troops in Afghanistan, liberals are bracing for a report from the top military commanders that could suggest more resources and troops are needed.

And they are increasingly worried that President Barack Obama will find it necessary to ask Congress for just that.

If that’s the case, liberals such as Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-Calif.), one of the three leaders of the Out of Iraq Caucus – which is slowly morphing into the Out of Afghanistan Caucus – said that progressives were prepared to stand in the way of any additional funding in an attempt to force the president’s hand.

Close the fronts in Germany and Japan first. WWII is still over.

Mr. Obama, what is your exit strategy in Afghanistan?

Peace demonstrators: where are your demonstrations in the large cities across the country against Obama's war?

Code punk: When will you call for impeachment?

Obozo’s “Afghanistan, the real war we should be fighting”.

Obozo’s loses as well.

It was much more fun campaigning, using his well polished shuck and jive act.

That's not how he got elected. The fact is, it *couldn't be*.

It was long ago recognized that with liberals, it wasn’t their causes that mattered, but their agenda. Feminism, environmentalism, racial equality, social justice, etc., were just a means to whip up support among the vast army of useful idiots to promote their leftist objective. Then came the ‘Bama, and the left is still flogging their collectivist cause, but the game has changed. Sorry folks, but it’s no longer about the agenda; it’s now about the ‘Bama. As so often happens, the personality of a wannabe king has overwhelmed the cause and is replacing collectivism with facism. Another textbook example of the corrupting influence of power.

O love seeing the infighting but am concerned for the troops. We have a very difficult mission ahead of us and our country can’t afford to have these idiots in charge.

To include calling in artillery and air strikes.

I'm with the libs on Afghanistan, but for entirely different reasons:

1. No strategy, other than pacification.

2. Instead of a plan to achieve victory, they've developed a 50+ list of metrics to define progress.

3. President Obama and the REMFs in the Pentagon do not have the political will to do what's necessary to win in Afghanistan.

4. Based on the history of Afghanistan, a military victory is extremely doubtful. Just ask Alexander the Great.

IMO, the best we can hope for is to neutralize al-Qaeda and the Taliban. That's simply not worth American casualties.

I just love when liberals rip their own. It’s inevitable you can’t have a roomfil of libs without someone fighting. Being angry is their sole reason for living. Pass the popcorn this is going to get good!

If our good troops weren’t caught in the middle of all this I would find it amusing.

Expect 0bama to suggest a draft, any day now. You’ll be eligible whether male or female. You might be able to opt for alternative civilian service, but only with approval from the overlords.

If Obama gets the draft through, I would rather fight and kill Taliban than fight and die at the hands of a US citizen losing their freedom.

I saw the anti-war flakes in Keene, NH this morning.

One of them had a sign that said, “Afghans need jobs, too!”

I can just see the interview now.

INTERVIEWER: So, can you tell me what kind of work experience you’ve had?

AFGHAN CANDIDATE: Well, I’ve conducted beheadings with a kitchen knife, and I ran the video-camera once. I’ve done a couple of car bombs and I know how to use a cell phone as a detonator.

“Pure entertainment.........”

Actually over a number of threads I’ve noticed a recent subtle change pop into the lexicon of the Obamaphants of the MSM. Seems they are now liberally using the word “liberal” in reference to the wacko-loonies of which are more commonly associated within the vast array of off-beats that generally comprise the Democrat Party over the past forty or so years.

I don’t find it so entertaining myself as I find it alarming if nobody notices.

It appears THEY are being sneaky again.
