The beginning of the end for our involvement in Afghanistan. Obama will resist for awhile but with the Independents abandoning him in droves he will ultimately be driven to do anything that is necessary to hold on to his base. A year? Two years? At most.
As much as I hate to admit it, I might be with them on this one. I was in Afghanistan in 2007. At the start, I thought we needed more troops there. With a bit of time, I began wondering - how do you win the hearts and minds of people who will kill their wives and young daughters if they have been seen by an infidel?
Think about it - if your pre-teen daughter was seen by a doctor to save her leg, would YOU want to kill her?
If someone is that evil, will building roads convince them that infidels are OK?
Afghanistan is what the neutron bomb was invented for...
well it took the russians 10 years (not bound to our ROE) to accept that a war in afghanistan can´t be won. now Nato is there for 8 years and counting... lets hope that it doesn´t takes another 8 years to accept the inevitable.
Being a Vietnam Vet myself you are right the US is an agent of freedom throughout the world. When we leave tyranny will reign as before. You can lead the folks to freedom but you cannot make them embrace it. In the founding of our country it toke almost a decade for us to get documents outlining how we would proceed ratified. American is the greatest most generous country and great representatives of freedom throughout the world. We are the envy of the world. I really wish Obama would share that kind of pride to the world. When he does less it is a lie, and maybe the truth is not in him.
Obama can’t share American with the rest of the world, his sights are on duplicating Hugo Chavez in America. His little Marxist room will not allow freedom in.
He closest allies on Afghanistan are (strangely) the conservatives who claim to oppose him. Iorinically, there is more than one birther who is a loyal Obamaite on this issue! As long as they continue to back him up (combined with more unquestioning Obama worshipers), he’ll get whatever he wants. In this respect, Obama is in a much stronger postiion than LBJ (who had no worshipers).
No...it isn’t quite the same. LBJ did not have worshipers. Obama does. Also, Obama has conservatives solidly on his side on this issue. The conservative/Obamaite coalition will cover his ass on this issue for quite some time.
My co-worker just returned from a tour in Afghanistan at the village level.
He says the Afghans regard infidels as OK as long as they have money to pass around.
But says weekly “man love Thursday” is gross beyond belief.
Sounds like the democrats are giving Ted Kennedy a proper send of by doing what Kennedy did about the vietnam war PROTEST.
