ATWOOD, Ind. - The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department says a 37-year-old man has been killed after apparently being pulled into a wood chipper. James Vician of Plymouth was feeding cut tree limbs into a wood chipper just before 9 a.m. Tuesday in Atwood, located about 20 miles southeast of South Bend. A coworker who was across the street returned to the wood chipper and could not find Vician. He called police, believing Vician may have been pulled into the machine. When police arrived, they discovered evidence of who they believe to be Vician in the rear of the wood chipper.

FREDERICK, Md. - Authorities in Frederick County, Maryland say a 52-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly tried to pay for gas with marijuana instead of cash. Frederick County Sheriff's deputies say it happened at the Classic Fuels Store on Old National Pike in New Market, Maryland on Sunday afternoon around 3 p.m. They say 52-year-old James T. Hart of Frederick offered the store clerk marijuana in lieu of cash to pay for his gas.

PORTLAND, Maine — A Maine man caught peering up at a girl from below an outhouse toilet seat four years ago stands accused of crawling into another pit toilet on White Mountain National Forest property in New Hampshire. A federal affidavit indicates a 49-year-old man confessed to repeating his previous act on Memorial Day. Federal agents sought the man out after a 9-year-old boy saw him climbing out of a toilet at the Hastings Campground. Two witnesses saw him walk away from the outhouse.

The United States and Cuba plan to start talks on resuming direct mail service between the two countries for the first time in nearly half a century as the Obama administration continues to try to engage the communist island, diplomats said Tuesday. The Minneapolis Police Department’s internal affairs unit is investigating a police softball team after an alleged night of drinking and brawls. The softball game itself was in Northeast Park last Tuesday, where Minneapolis police took on Minneapolis firefighters.
