Demonstrators said they had been demanding justice for two Uighurs killed last month in a fight with ethnic Han Chinese...

New York - Little people are calling on the Federal Communications Commission to ban the use of the word "midget" on broadcast TV. The group Little People of America said Sunday the word is just as offensive as racial slurs. The request was prompted by an April episode of NBC's "Celebrity Apprentice" that the group said was demeaning. In the episode, contestants created a detergent ad called "Jesse James and the Midgets." The contestants, including Joan Rivers, suggested bathing little people in the detergent and hanging them to dry. Calls to the FCC and "Celebrity Apprentice" host Donald Trump were...

The Obama administration on Monday poured cold water on any notion it is giving Israel the green light to attack Iran or that it is reconsidering plans to engage diplomatically with the Islamic republic. Vice President Joe Biden said in an interview broadcast on Sunday that the United States would not stand in the way of Israel in its dealings with Iran's nuclear ambitions. But State Department spokesman Ian Kelly rebuffed suggestions from reporters that Biden could be seen as giving the Jewish state a green light to attack Iran, which it views as an existential threat. "I certainly would...

John Ziegler, who produced a documentary on the horrendously unfair media coverage given to now-departing Governor Sarah Palin, talks with Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton about Palin’s decision to resign. John has the closest vantage point of anyone in the media, and has spent the most time with Palin. He explains that the move isn’t about 2012 at all, or really even any future run at elective office. John argues that Palin is playing long ball. Click on the image to listen:

"I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." —Clarence Darrow (1857–1938) Well, the aptly named Robert Strange McNamara has finally shuffled off to join LBJ and Dick Nixon in the 7th level of Hell. McNamara was the original bean-counter — a man who knew the cost of everything but the worth of nothing.

There is a groundswell of disdain for the federal bailouts of General Motors and Chrysler, even as polls show that a growing "Buy American" sentiment is boosting sales for the only Detroit automaker that avoided bankruptcy and federal rescue - Ford. GM and Chrysler say some buyers are coming back to support them, even trading in their Mercedes for Chevrolets. But it is bailout opponents who are the most visible - and audible. Conservatives thunder that the country has taken a socialist route with President Obama at the wheel. "I won't buy a socialist car," columnist and radio talk-show host...

ABC News’ Rick Klein reports: As job losses mount, Democrats are growing impatient about the impact of the massive stimulus package passed earlier this year, with talk beginning on Capitol Hill about a possible second stimulus bill. Today on ABCNews.com’s “Top Line,” Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., said a second stimulus is “probably needed,” and predicted that Congress is likely to act before the end of the year to inject even more federal dollars into the economy. Said Whitehouse: “I think that it is probably needed. We’re going to need to have some further discussion. It will probably take place towards...

When Democrats pretend something they are doing is in the interest of national security, you know they are trying to put something past you. Tim Ryan, Democratic Representative from Ohio, explains that America needs to pass the Waxman-Marley cap-and-trade bill because without it we will remain energy-dependent on those who want to “fly planes into our buildings.” If we want to prevent another attack, or make our citizens feel safe from terrorism, implementing a bill that will result in a massive government takeover of American businesses is not the answer. It is disgusting that the Democrats are using 9/11 to...

U.S. President Barack Obama's visit to Moscow which started a few hours ago as Air Force One landed in Vnukovo was awaited with such anxiety and generated so much commentary in the Russian media, as if it could miraculously bring the economic crisis to an end. Aides to President Dmitry Medvedev tried simultaneously to spin the importance of the visit and to lower expectations, and the special entry in Medvedev's - rather pedestrian - blog emphasized the need to break the trend towards the deterioration of bilateral relations that had "declined to a level practically on a par with the...

In a July 6 interview with Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta, President Obama repeated his false claim that the U.S. “import[s] more oil today than ever before.” When Obama first said this in February during an address to a joint-session of Congress, we wrote that the president had gotten his facts wrong. We said then that oil imports peaked in 2005 and have “substantially” declined since.

Full Article at: http://www.thedcwriteup.com/2009/07/green-alarm-causes-incalculable-harm/ One of the most annoying assumptions in current politics is that Republicans and conservatives don’t care about the environment. I’ve lived on a river much of my life, so I know from experience that a clean environment is an essential part of a healthy culture. I’ve seen people dump latrines and trash into my front yard, a water-way that thousands of people use every day. The health hazards of pollution and the real world effects of mutilating natural keepsakes are readily apparent for anyone willing to look closely. But looking at the current Waxman-Markey Climate bill,...

COLUMBIA, South Carolina (CNN) – After spending the holiday weekend with his family in Florida, Mark Sanford is apparently intent on fighting off calls for his resignation and staying in office, according to one South Carolina Republican who spoke with the governor on Monday. Richard Yow, a member of the South Carolina Republican Party executive committee from Chesterfield County, received a phone call from Sanford on Monday afternoon. Yow said he spoke to the embattled governor for ten minutes, during which Sanford asked Yow for his forgiveness. Yow said he told Sanford he could forgive him, but he told the...

Dame Elizabeth Taylor will not be attending Michael Jackson’s memorial at Staples Center on Tuesday. The legendary actress posted the news today on her Twitter page, confirming that she had been “asked to speak at Staples Center” but she could not “be part of the public whoopla.” “I said I wouldn’t go to the Staples Center and I certainly don’t want to become part of it. I love him too much,” Taylor continued. “I just don’t believe that Michael would want me to share my grief with millions of others. How I feel is between us. Not a public event....

Monday, July 6, 2009 Sharpen Those Sabres - The Day Has Come By The Aged P So the day has come. The hope that every loyal supporter of this site and the other myriad Sarah Palin sites has secretly held in their hearts for months on end, ever since that day of despair last November. At times it seemed that the hope was becoming forlorn, that passions would rise only to fall back in doubt and confusion. Last week was the worst of days. I read the comments here and was seared by the grief and pain of many posters,...
