Coalition forces thwart al-Qaeda bombers, facilitators
BAGHDAD Coalition forces detained eight suspected terrorists in central and northern Iraq Sunday while targeting al-Qaeda in Iraq operatives who bring foreigners into Iraq and coordinate bombings.
Coalition forces disrupted an AQI bombing network in the Tigris River Valley during two related operations. In Tikrit, about 160 kilometers north of Baghdad, the force used information from an operation Jul. 9 to capture an alleged senior member of the bombing network and another suspect. The alleged senior member reportedly coordinates the movement of suicide bombers and foreign terrorists within the network. Farther up the valley in Bayji, Coalition forces detained another suspect believed to be tied to suicide bombings within the same network.
In Baghdad, Coalition forces captured a wanted man and one associate reportedly working for the AQI foreign terrorist facilitation network that has developed in the city. Two wanted men and an associate were detained in Biaj, about 130 kilometers southwest of Mosul, for their suspected ties to the AQI foreign terrorist facilitation network operating in the Jazirah desert.

Teen Gang-Raped, Mutilated and Killed in Burma
By Jeremy Reynalds
Correspondent for ASSIST News Service
SURREY, ENGLAND (ANS) — A Christian human rights group has received credible reports that a 15- year-old girl in Kachin State, Northern Burma, was gang-raped, severely mutilated and murdered by Burma Army soldiers.
Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) said in a news release that the reported July 27 murder occurred just days before UN Special Envoy Ibrahim Gambari prepares to visit Burma for a further round of talks with the military regime.
CSW reported that the girl, Nhkum Hkawn Din, was attacked near Nam Sai village, Bhamo District, Kachin State on her way to bring rice to her brother who was working in a paddy field. She was reported missing at about 9 p.m.
According to CSW, her naked body was found three days later located 200 meters from an army checkpoint. Her clothes, slippers and rice basket were also found. A local witness testified that they had seen Burma Army soldiers follow Nhkum Hkawn Din on her way to the paddy field. After her body was found, other witnesses said they had seen soldiers leave that area after the time she disappeared.
CSW said that according to her family, Nhkum Hkawn Dins skull had been completely crushed, her eyes gouged out, her throat cut, all her facial features obliterated, and she had been stabbed several times, including in her stomach and right rib cage. Her family and local villagers claim to know which soldiers carried out the attack, but local authorities reportedly refused to take any action.
Alexa Papadouris, Advocacy Director at CSW, said in a news release, This latest tragedy is another example of the grotesque barbarism of the military regime in Burma, and evidence that despite what the regime tells UN envoys, they continue to perpetrate crimes against humanity and a culture of impunity. We call on the UN to introduce specific benchmarks for progress, such as the release of political prisoners and an end to the use of rape, with deadlines, and we urge Mr. Gambari to send a clear, tough message to the junta, with the full weight of the UN behind him.
He added, The UN Security Council has described rape and sexual violence as a crime against humanity in Resolution 1820 passed on 19 June this year. We believe that the generals ruling Burma should be brought to the International Criminal Court on charges of crimes against humanity.
CSW is British-based human rights organization which works on behalf of those persecuted for their Christian beliefs, and promotes religious liberty for all.

Video- FReeper Interview Joseph Shahda translator of captured Iraqi documents: Part 1 and part 2
Townhall ^ | 8/17/08 | Chris Donohoe
Posted on August 17, 2008 9:52:21 AM PDT by april15Bendovr
“This is an interview conducted by freeper Chris Donohoe (April15bendovr) with freeper Joseph Shahda (jveritas) about Saddam regime WMD programs and their relations to terrorism based on his translations of some captured Saddam regime documents. Also he talks about some Al Qaeda-captured documents.
On the WMD issue, Joseph Shahda reveals that the documents clearly indicate that the Saddam regime opted to build the precursors required to make chemical weapons rather than the final chemical weapons product. They did this for two reasons. First because these precursors are dual-use materials and Saddam could always claim that they are used for civilian industries and not chemical weapons. Second the precursors have much longer shelf than the final product and when required it would only take the Saddam regime a few weeks and in some cases few days to assemble final chemical weapons products.
On the terrorism issue the documents prove that Saddam had much more relation with terrorism than previously thought. For example, some documents show that the Saddam regime had trained foreign terrorists from 1999-2003 and at the beginning of the war Saddam ordered his generals to treat the foreign terrorists as if they were special forces in the Iraqi army and to give them the same wages and benefits.
Also in the video Joseph Shahda talks about an authentic Al Qaeda document written by a top Al Qaeda leader called Saif Al Adel, which proves once and for all that Al Qaeda terrorists led by Zarqawi came to Iraq before the war and established terrorist cells not only in Northern Iraq but also in the Sunni areas in central Iraq that are totally controlled by Saddam. This clearly indicates that although we do not have proof of an operational relationship between the Saddam regime and Al Qaeda, it is an absolute fact that Saddam’s regime turned a blind eye on the Al Qaeda presence in Iraq, operating under the old saying The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
