Right now floating off into space doesn't sound all that bad...
To: tuliptree76
Sure, it sounds like the beginning of a fun dream, but the air would get very thin, and very, very cold.
Becoming weightless in this magical manner would be a deadly curse. One would be like a dessicated corpse, blown about in the winds, for as long as consciousness and life continued. Not a good way to go.

Your kind of imagination was exactly what Rod Serling was looking for. We learn certain lessons in various ways. Exaggeration is just one of them.

True.
He got a good portion of his ideas from dreams and nightmares.
I get my ideas from looking at something and not seeing what everyone else sees.
For some strange reason, a washing machine isn't there to do ouir laundry for us.
It is there solely to feast upon teh laundry.
Missing socks?
They were consumed by the agitating beast.
The dryer is a strange dimensinal portal through which certain types of clothing travel through to unknown parts.
And the telephone is a malignant sentient creature that slowly drains your soul while you're using it.
Comes from having the misfortune to have a surreal imagination.

That's not an affliction -- it's a gift.
Remember when they said all of our appliances were going to have an internet address? We were going to be able to sit in the kitchen and turn on the lamp by the bedside?
Can you imagine the agony of someone who somehow became the enemy of all these intercommunicating machines?
Traffic signals would always be red. Elevators would not respond to him. Telephones would always connect to wrong numbers.
He would try to avoid civilisation, hut it would pursue him, just as white blood cells track down bacteria.
Your challenge, if you decided to pursue this story line, would be to come up with some kind of acceptable ending, other than the machine simply destroying or consuming him.
I have one in mind, but it seems pretty hokey.

LOL.
Yes, the internet appliances always seemed like a very bad idea to me.
Perhaps a central server could be accidentally 'decoupled' from the power grid to end the master tech's rampage against the protagonist?

Rod serling did one approaching that. All the appliances in the house turned on him.......
" Get out of this house, Finchley"
" Yes, get out of here, Finchley"
To: Darksheare
Sure, sabotage would always be an option.
I was going in another direction, though. If the machine hates you, you could pursue the reason why, or the fact that you are dealing with an entity that has emotions...
The question really is, do you want to look into writing a story for other people's entertainment, that uses your unique perspective about machines and allegedly inanimate objects?

Life, so full of minor interruptions..
When I write, I write to purge things from my head for any number of reasons.
That it turns out to be a story and have humor seems to be secondary actually.
Not sure if I can explain it fully or adequately.
That a machine hates you would be an unnerving experience.
To have it proactively act against you would be unbearable.
How would you know which machine 'started' it?
Or whether or not the machine is acting independantly or not?
How would you find out without having autodrive cars run you down in the streets?
*chuckle*
I'm not sure what I'd do with the story.
I don't have a good track record for being able to finish stories longer than two or three paragraphs.
(How would you know if you've 'won' against the machines?)
