Thanks! Near as I can figure out, there is a formula involved.

Write books, get published and recognized, give interviews, write more books, and so forth.

The only part I seem to be able to get done is the first part. I market things about as well as Commodore Computers.

At least I enjoy the writing of the books, and the company of the characters I develop.

What does one do to market their books in these days of self publishing? Send publishers the sales records and the book instead of a script?

I did nearly 20 years in advertising and marketing, but never marketed books and imagine it's a different animal altogether.

What about Ted Kazinski's or Al Gore's manifestos? Fame or infamy first, then pen to paper...

Publishers these days are awash in offerings and have little incentive to assist the novice. If you don't have your name made yet, they'll publish your book, if you pay them to do it. Then all you have to do is sell it.

Oddly, many introverted, bookish types who are very good at writing do not have the extroverted, ebullient people skills to hawk their wares effectively. Go figure!
