Many FReepers have knowledge to share about improving and maintaining health and would like to share it and learn from others; and others may not know much yet but want to learn. Some of us don't have much money for good insurance or doctors, some want to try other methods besides prescription meds, and some have experience in treating and solving health problems.

More and more "regular" doctors have accepted treatment methods such as the benefits of acupuncture, massage for many conditions, better diet, use of herbs and so on. There are limits, and often side effects, to some standard medical efforts.

My field is Ayurvedic herbalism and related measures, and have a lot of information I can post when I have time. I have seen herbs and sometimes dietary changes help people (including myself) with issues such as rheumatoid arthritis, high BP, gallstones, kidneystones, repeated boils, UTIs, prostate problems, insomnia, allergies, urinary incontinence, and many more. I hope to learn a lot from others with their knowledge and experience.

There are many "old fashioned" home care methods that were in common use a few generations ago that actually work and are cheap, such as castor oil packs, fomentations using alternating hot and cold water, and the like, which are easy to do. I am sure there is a lot of knowledge here on Free Republic that can be shared.

I would like this thread to stay civil without distruption, so my request is that people who think natural health methods are bunkum, make your own thread.

Thanks for the guggulu suggestions. I went to Banyan, got some Gokshuradi Guggulu, and some other stuff to balance my pitta.

On another thread I posted about a new essential oil blend intended to counteract spike protein:

https://www.youngliving.com/us/en/product/red-cedar-bliss-essential-oil-blend

Because of FDA regulations, the company can’t say anything about medical effects, but — according to an inside source — flushing the spike protein, flushing vaxx detritus, and combatting the inflammation due to the spike protein were the goals. I don’t know the science behind it.

You noted the ingredients: Orange, Clove, Laurus Nobilis, Helichrysum, Frankincense, and Western Red Cedar essential oils.

Orange is a feel-good oil when diffused, and helps with overall wellness when ingested. Clove is another feel-good oil, also anti-viral. Laurus Nobilis cleanses, provides immune support, and has antioxidant properties. Helichrysum is my go-to for healing wounds and bruises, also good for the skin in general. Frankincense provides huge immune support, is amazing for the skin, and enhances spirituality — no wonder Jesus got it as a Birth Day gift!

I have all of these, and have used them all (except maybe the laurus nobilis) with good effects. The one I didn’t have is the the Western Red Cedar oil. Since Young Living doesn’t sell it separately, I ordered some from MountainRoseHerbs.com, who say:

* Organic western red cedar essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves of Thuja plicata. This oil has a long reputation in the Pacific Northwest for supporting many systems both in and out of the body. With a strong physical and spiritual background its no wonder this oil remains one of the most popular on the market.

* Beneficial to the nervous, respiratory, and skin systems this oil can be used for many purposes and will often affect multiple systems at once. It is most commonly applied in aromatherapy with the use of a diffuser, spray or added to a personal inhaler.

* Aroma: This oil has a strong, fresh-green aroma with sharp undertones of musk and wood.

* Constituents: This oil contains α-thujone, β-thujone, fenchone, sabinene, and terpinen-4-ol.

* Blending and Uses: This oil blends well with black pepper, cedarwood, citrus oils, ginger, and sandalwood.

* For seasonal respiratory issues blend western red cedar, sweet marjoram, and ginger in a diffuser or personal inhaler.

* To decompress in the evening try western red cedar with sweet orange, cedarwood and vetiver.

* This oil is beneficial to the skin, to apply simply combine with a carrier oil and geranium or helichrysum. Alternately you could add to your facial toner, cleanser, or serum for added benefits.

Although I haven’t used western red cedar oil, I have used regular (Atlantic) cedarwood oil, and was happy with the result. Cedarwood and sandalwood have both been praised for their impact on the pineal gland (which some say is your connection to the universe). I diffuse cedarwood at night and it gives me more positive dreams.

Pinging the Natural Health list with info about Essential oils and in particular, a blend which is considered to eradicate spike proteins (ickies in covid and vaxes). Hat tip to AZLiberty. Also info about the Banyan Botanical online test to determine constitution aka dosha or body type.

freepmail me to get on/off this list.

Thank you for posting the information. I always keep almost all the Guggulu formulas on hand and DH and I take some of whichever ones are needed daily, and I send to others, too.

One warning about Thuja EO (I do know it under that name): it is toxic to put on the skin. Even with inhalations I’d be careful and very moderate with use; most likely use in a blend.

The Banyan Botanicals site has an online Q and A to determine dosha, or constitution. It’s pretty accurate. Then it gives details about how to deal with that particular constitution re: herbs, foods, habits etc. I go a bit finer tuned with my Q and A for clients, and determine imbalances (vikriti) as well as basic constitution (prakriti) but I’m pleased with Banyan’s method.

Random: this very long and somewhat annoying video claims that herpes viruses HSV-1 and HSV-2 can be controlled by a combination of curcumin, resveratrol, and quercetin.

Well, it turns out that curcumin, resveratrol, and quercetin are only the first part of the protocol. These ingredients weaken or “unmask” the virus to make it vulnerable to the immune system. They provide a bunch of other ingredients in a “green smoothie” to strengthen the immune system so that it can actually get rid of the virus. They claim that users subsequently test virus-free. 60-day money-back guarantee, FWIW.

I mentioned the supposed herpes solution to a couple of friends with the problem. Based on the video, one of them decided to try it out. If it “works”, the other will try it, too. I’m suggesting they add niacin and L-glutamine (the current version of the niacin protocol) to the mix. The niacin should help the circulatory system get the active ingredients everywhere in the body. L-glutamine is known to inhibit the herpes virus. The combination of niacin and L-glutamine strengthens the immune system.

I’d like to hear from anyone here who has used castor oil packs . Have been watching YT videos about it and am amazed if it does as much as they say.

LJ, you told me to use CO for a wrist injury and it helped.

Pinging the Health ping list (freepmail me to get on/off).

TEETH!!

Some people think Alzheimer is caused by periodontal pathogens.

Effects of Ginkgo biloba extract on periodontal pathogens and its clinical efficacy as adjuvant treatment - PubMed (nih.gov)

Someone posted an article saying that a key cause of Alzheimer’s is spirochetes, a class that includes the microbe that causes Lyme disease. The article went on to say that the spirochetes got to the brain through the mouth, and that brushing with baking soda was an effective way of preventing this from happening.

Going down a rabbit-hole on spirochetes, I found this interesting article:

http://klinghardtacademy.com/images/stories/Lyme_Disease/Lyme_protocol_Jan06.pdf

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for that link. I’ve tried to find Ginkgo in powdered form (my preferred way of taking herbs) but no luck so far.
I’ve also read that spirochetes can migrate to the brain with ill effects. One of the dentists I went to (he was bad in other ways, I’ve had bad dentist karma!) had a test to check for bacteria count in the mouth. He was amazed at the results of my test, he had never seen such a low count. He asked what I brushed my teeth with.
Answer: Baking soda.
He said that was the reason. (so, he wasn’t ALL bad)
Usually I brush teeth with home made tooth powder, posted recipe on the thread someplace, and can again if anyone wants. 3/4 powdered green clay, 1/4 baking soda, with a variety of powdered herbs and some essential oils.
According to Ayurveda, tooth pastes are not very good for the teeth as they are gooey and sweet. The sweet taste is not healthy for teeth, even if stevia or that birch sweetener. Bitter, hot and astringent tastes are good, which is the taste of my tooth powder; but essential oils make it taste good without any “sweetness”. Also some people, depending on constitution, have naturally stronger teeth, thicker enamel, etc and some have naturally poorer teeth (raising my hand).
Another bit: A couple of years ago I got my teeth cleaned at a local cheapie dental clinic, and the dental assistant was amazed how clean my teeth were - no plaque, tartar, nothing. Asked when I had them last cleaned, I said “about three years ago”. She had never seen such clean teeth. In addition to tooth powder and baking soda, I brush teeth right after eating, and do oil pulling most days.
My only regret is not starting these routines YEARS ago!
I also use a type of toothbrush invented by a dentist decades ago. The first time I tried this type of tooth brush my teeth felt much cleaner than usual.
The site has a lot of info, their product line has increased since I last looked, sounds like they want to get rich.
Read a study many years ago, posted right here on FR, that spoke about this very issue and how baking soda eliminated it. I’ve been brushing with baking soda ever since, and my dentist is amazed at how healthy my gums are.
And baking soda is so cheap compared to tooth paste. It’s been so long since I used tooth paste, if I do try (DH uses it) I hate the strong taste and sweetness and makes my teeth feel weird.
I bet you mean baking soda! :-D
I forgot to mention a couple of other things - I make mouthwash with essential oils, since they don’t disperse, I have to shake it well before pouring into a cup. I will describe later what I use.
The other thing is calcium carbonate, it is considered to help re-mineralize teeth, I add to mouthwash and tooth powder.
Hat tip to SisterK. Just because Ivermectin may cure macular degeneration doesn’t necessarily mean that M.D. is cause by a parasite. Iverm. is an amazing drug, with virtually no side effects.
Ivermectin to reverse macular degeneration
https://thehealthyplanet.com/2016/09/accidental-cure-for-macular-degeneration-vision-loss-affects-37-million-americans
By Simon Yu, MD
Going blind by impaired vision is one of the most common fears for losing our independence as we grow older. Vision loss affects 37 million Americans over 50 years old including one in four who are older than 80 years old. Low vision is defined as central vision acuity of 20/70 with the best correction. Legal blindness is defined as central visual acuity of 20/200 or worse with correction. The visual field is also an important criteria of vision loss.
Vision loss in the older adults is associated with increased risk of falling, inability to drive, loss of independence, depression, and an increase in all-cause mortality. The most common causes of vision loss and blindness in older patients are (1) age-related macular degeneration, (2) glaucoma, (3) diabetes mellitus retinopathy, and (4) age related cataracts.
The U.S. Preventive Service Task Force (USPSTF) concludes that current evidence is insufficient to assess the balance of benefits and harms of screening for impaired visual acuity in adults older than 65 years, that is, there are no conclusive benefits of universal eye screening in older adults. That means you are on your own to protect your vision and eye sight. Comprehensive eye examinations every one to two years for all adults are recommended by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. (American Family Physician; August 2016).
Vitamin supplements (lutein, zeaxanthin, and omega-3 fatty acids) may lower the risk of the progression of age-related macular degeneration but do not prevent the development of macular degeneration. Vitamin supplements are a highly controversial topic among nutritionists, alternative medical doctors, and allopathic physicians.
Occasionally, I see patients for a particular complaint like IBS for which I treat the underlying problems with parasite medications. Sometimes, I get unexpected responses like the resolution of: life long asthma, anemia, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, psoriasis, etc. I describe this phenomenon in my book, Accidental Cure.
I’ll share one discovery of an accidental cure for macular degeneration. I saw a 65 year old physician, Doctor J. from North Carolina, for the chief complaint of Parkinson’s disease with a tremor of his right hand for over one year. He also has neuropathy, intermittent atrial fibrillation, and a recent diagnosis of macular degeneration.
He has been practicing integrative medicine over 30 years. In fact, we share a patient. She was suffering from “Delusional Parasitosis” with so many unusual somatic complaints. He referred her to me for a medical evaluation to rule out potential parasite problems. He did not dismiss her like most physicians in North Carolina. After a great difficulty treating her with multiple parasite medications and extensive dental work, finally, she was stabilized. He decided to come see me for an evaluation for himself.
Acupuncture meridian assessment indicated 10 out of 40 meridians were out of balance. His main problems were dental infection on lymphatic system, parasite problems from large intestine meridian, and fungal problems from allergy-immunology points. He was treated for parasites with ivermectin and pyrantel pamoate. On the second visit he was treated for flukes with praziquantel based on disturbance of the gallbladder meridian. On the third visit he was treated for fungal problems manifested in allergy-immunology point with itraconozole. Part of the dental work was also done by an oral surgeon during that time.
He could not see me for follow up for several months due to a family situation but we discussed his status over the phone. He told me there was no improvement on his tremors. He had a great expectation that his tremors would improve after parasite medications and dental work. I was also disappointed. However, by serendipity, he saw his ophthalmologist recently for a follow up and the eye doctor seemed befuddled when he was examining Doctor J.’s eyes. He could not see any sign of macular degeneration.
Doctor J. asked me a question like any curious physician, is it possible to cure macular degeneration with parasite medications? I told him I don’t know. However, many patients often say their eye sight improved after taking parasite medications. River blindness in Africa is treated with the parasite medication ivermectin.
During the course of his diagnosis of macular degeneration and his follow up appointment, the only therapy he took was taking parasite medications as a part of re-balancing his large intestine and gallbladder meridians for his Parkinson’s disease. The Gallbladder/Liver/ Stomach/Bladder meridians regulate eye related function according to acupuncture meridian principles. He still has tremors from Parkinson’s disease but macular degeneration is not there anymore.
Is it possible to cure macular degeneration with parasite medications? At least for this patient, it was possible. Neurological disorders like Parkinson’s disease may take many years to slow down the progression of the disease and stabilize the condition. He had a relatively early stage of macular degeneration. He responded to specific parasite medications at the right dose, right sequence, and right combinations based on meridian assessment. If he was older and in a more advanced stage of macular degeneration, I do not expect he would have responded to the medications because the damage was too far gone beyond repair.
By treating the underlying problems rather than focusing on treating the symptoms, disease, or diagnosis, reversal of the macular degeneration was possible at an early stage in this situation. Let’s call that an accidental cure for macular degeneration. Medical professionals interested in learning how to measure the subtle energy fields with acupuncture meridians to detect parasites and hidden dental problems can check my web site for a special training on these subjects and techniques. This training is designed for MD, DO, and DDS to explore the integration of medicine and dentistry beyond their specialties.
Pinging the health ping list - (freepmail to get on/off). First info about Dandelion, as it was recently brought up as a useful herb. Disclaimer - I have never used it, so everything today is theory, unlike much of the info I post. I don’t have a lawn, and thus no dandelions. I wish I did, after reading all the info today, Later I will post info about CBD extract for pain.
Dandelion
Systems affected: Liver, Kidneys, gallbladder, pancreas, and blood
Properties and Conditons:
Hepatic (liver) tonic, diuretic, stomachic, lithotriptic (stone dissolving), astringent, cholagogue (supports production of bile), galactagogue (mother’s milk)
Kidney and liver disorders, rheumatism, gout, abnormal blood sugar, allergies, hypertension, edema, skin diseases, congested lymphatics, gall stones, breast sores, breast cancer, edema, ulcers
Methods of intake:
Dandelion root capsules: 3000 mg a day
Tincture: 1 tsp a day
Root or Leaf Tea: 1 oz of dry herb, brewed, per day
Roasted root: brew like coffee, or mix with coffee. Roasted root is not very medicinal.
Helps clear obstructions of the liver, and stimulates the liver to detoxify poisons, thus it is a blood purifier. Has many assimilable minerals especially in the root. Also clears obstructions of the spleen, pancreas, gallbladder, bladder, and kidneys. Dandelion tea can help stomach aches; 1/2 c. every half hour until relieved.
Hepatitis - regular use of dandelion root tea along with proper diet can help speed cure, and the root tea can regulate or even heal type 2 diabetes (acquired later in life, not born). Dandelion root also is helpful in hypoglecemia - 1 cup of tea 2-3 times a day. It also may be helpful in lowering BP, and in anemia because of the high mineral content. Generally considered a blood tonic and cleanses lymph system.
Young dandelion leaves can be eaten fresh, they contain many minerals and vitamins including goodly amounts of Vit A, Vit C, calcium and potassium.Best to use very young leaves, mince finely, and add to other foods or salad as even when young they are somewhat bitter. The white juice from broken stems can be applied to pimple, warts and old sores Another source says to avoid the white juice/sap; as a child I used to play with dandelions and the white juice never bothered me!
The root is the most potent part for cleansing the liver, as well as kidneys and lymphatic system. It is effective for “heat” conditions like eczema, acne, boils, and jaundice. It is considered to be a preventive for breast cancer and cysts, and helpful for mammary gland infection, suppressed lactation, or any breast inflammation, and fibrocystic breast problems. The tea is taken internally and the leaves can be applied externally as a poultice. Dip the leaves in very hot water momentarily to soften, then apply to the affected area (not so hot they burn).
I have read a few things recently, saying how interesting it is that “the powers that be” have demonized the dandelion, made it the bane of lawn owners, encouraged chemical pesticides to eliminate it, for the very reason that “they” know the dandelion is a beneficial health supplement.
At the same time, “they” put the poison called fluoride in water, toothpaste and who knows what else, to harm humanity.
(We have well water and a reverse osmosis system, and I’ve been using fluoride free toothpaste for years.)
It’s a jungle out there....take good care of yourselves FRiends
