Pinging the health ping list - (freepmail to get on/off). First info about Dandelion, as it was recently brought up as a useful herb. Disclaimer - I have never used it, so everything today is theory, unlike much of the info I post. I don’t have a lawn, and thus no dandelions. I wish I did, after reading all the info today, Later I will post info about CBD extract for pain.

Dandelion
Systems affected: Liver, Kidneys, gallbladder, pancreas, and blood
Properties and Conditons:
Hepatic (liver) tonic, diuretic, stomachic, lithotriptic (stone dissolving), astringent, cholagogue (supports production of bile), galactagogue (mother’s milk)
Kidney and liver disorders, rheumatism, gout, abnormal blood sugar, allergies, hypertension, edema, skin diseases, congested lymphatics, gall stones, breast sores, breast cancer, edema, ulcers

Methods of intake:
Dandelion root capsules: 3000 mg a day
Tincture: 1 tsp a day
Root or Leaf Tea: 1 oz of dry herb, brewed, per day
Roasted root: brew like coffee, or mix with coffee. Roasted root is not very medicinal.

Helps clear obstructions of the liver, and stimulates the liver to detoxify poisons, thus it is a blood purifier. Has many assimilable minerals especially in the root. Also clears obstructions of the spleen, pancreas, gallbladder, bladder, and kidneys. Dandelion tea can help stomach aches; 1/2 c. every half hour until relieved.

Hepatitis - regular use of dandelion root tea along with proper diet can help speed cure, and the root tea can regulate or even heal type 2 diabetes (acquired later in life, not born). Dandelion root also is helpful in hypoglecemia - 1 cup of tea 2-3 times a day. It also may be helpful in lowering BP, and in anemia because of the high mineral content. Generally considered a blood tonic and cleanses lymph system.

Young dandelion leaves can be eaten fresh, they contain many minerals and vitamins including goodly amounts of Vit A, Vit C, calcium and potassium.Best to use very young leaves, mince finely, and add to other foods or salad as even when young they are somewhat bitter. The white juice from broken stems can be applied to pimple, warts and old sores Another source says to avoid the white juice/sap; as a child I used to play with dandelions and the white juice never bothered me!

The root is the most potent part for cleansing the liver, as well as kidneys and lymphatic system. It is effective for “heat” conditions like eczema, acne, boils, and jaundice. It is considered to be a preventive for breast cancer and cysts, and helpful for mammary gland infection, suppressed lactation, or any breast inflammation, and fibrocystic breast problems. The tea is taken internally and the leaves can be applied externally as a poultice. Dip the leaves in very hot water momentarily to soften, then apply to the affected area (not so hot they burn).

I have read a few things recently, saying how interesting it is that “the powers that be” have demonized the dandelion, made it the bane of lawn owners, encouraged chemical pesticides to eliminate it, for the very reason that “they” know the dandelion is a beneficial health supplement.

At the same time, “they” put the poison called fluoride in water, toothpaste and who knows what else, to harm humanity.

(We have well water and a reverse osmosis system, and I’ve been using fluoride free toothpaste for years.)

It’s a jungle out there....take good care of yourselves FRiends

Thanks LJ! I need to find a good source for dandelion. I use Swanson for my supplements and stuff like NAC.

Thanks L.J.! I have used the tea as a diaretic. It replaces the potassium that it removes!
