xplanation: "Happy New Year!" No, wait, this is not a fireworks display. This image shows Nebula Pa 30, observed with the Gemini North Telescope in Hawai'i. It is likely the remnant of an old supernova explosion: separate historical records by Chinese, Japanese and Arabic astronomers tell of a "guest star" that appeared in the sky for 185 days in the year 1181. It is believed that this bright new point of light came from the supernova that caused the fireworks in Pa 30. Astronomers don't know exactly what happened in this unusual explosion, classified as a Type Iax supernova, but...

An 18-year-old man accused of telling an FBI informant he wanted to attack the Mall of America during the Hmong Arts Celebration on Oct. 24 was arrested at gunpoint Tuesday in Richfield, Minnesota, during an arranged meeting to buy an AK-47-style rifle for $600, according to a federal criminal complaint filed Wednesday. In the complaint, authorities say a "confidential human source" exchanged "hundreds of bi-directional messages through multiple social media and encrypted messaging applications" with Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud from December 2024 until Tuesday. In those exchanges, Mohamud allegedly "expressed his desire to travel to Somalia" to join al-Shabaab and "fight...

"Monty Python" legend John Cleese is doubling down on his months-long string of incendiary posts about Islam after activists filed a complaint that asked Britain's counter-radicalization program to scrutinize him over the missives. "How exciting," the 86-year-old comedian wrote after learning that a member of the public had referred him to Prevent, a British government program designed to intervene when authorities believe someone may be vulnerable to radicalization or becoming involved in terrorism. The September 22 referral, first reported by Muslim-focused British news outlet 5Pillars, accused Cleese of a "sustained pattern" of online activity that "demonizes, dehumanizes, and collectively attributes...

He says that “no fewer than 26" past and present team owners have documented ties to the gambling community and/or organized crime. Moldea also contends that, as of 1989, “no fewer than 70 NFL games have been fixed.”Moldea’s claim was bolstered by bookmaker Don Dawson admitting to participating in the fixing of no fewer than 32 games. Dawson told Moldea that he rigged the final scores by working with the quarterback.Moldea says that his book names players who were involved in fixing games, and that it identifies eight specific 1979 games that were fixed by two referees who were later...

This day is profoundly painful for so many New Yorkers. It marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7. On that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss. The suffering did not begin nor end that day. It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians—including more than 21,000 children. Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed. That suffering has intensified with...

Federal authorities have arrested a man accused of plotting a terrorist attack at Mall of America and pledging his allegiance to the Islamic State group. According to an affidavit unsealed on Wednesday, FBI agents arrested 18-year-old Sheikhdoon Abdullahi Mohamud on Tuesday directly after he purchased an AK-47 and 200 rounds of ammunition with the stated intent of carrying out a mass shooting. The criminal complaint alleges Mohamud had messaged an informant for nearly two years, discussing his hatred of non-Muslims and his desire to align with an Islamic terror group. He floated the idea of joining al Qaeda and al...

Home-educated students do notably better on standardized academic tests on average than those in institutional schools, according to a powerful new study reviewing available data. For years, parents struggling with the decision of how to educate their children have wondered if homeschooling really provides as strong of an academic base as a conventional school. In the last 50 years, homeschooling has gone from being perceived as a fringe experiment to a form of education serving around six percent of American school-age children; that is about 3.4 million K-12 homeschool students. This mainstreaming of homeschooling has led to a lot of...

France’s urban areas have extremely large Muslim populations. I mean, extremely large. Now, those same populations are rampaging through the streets, attacking people, and setting buildings on fire. This is an existential problem for France, and it’s unclear whether the government will stop it and, if it doesn’t, whether the French people (mostly disarmed, of course) will step up to save themselves... NEW YORK, NY — Liberals around the country prepared to commemorate the anniversary of October eighth, the day Israel attacked Gaza completely unprovoked. Progressives gathered to hold moments of silence for those killed on the first day of Israel's stunning attack on the peaceful Palestinians living in Gaza. "We will never know why the Jews decided to be so violent on this day," activist Kristina Mac told friends. "We need to have a protest and condemn Israel's cruel and evil actions against the poor, benevolent people living in Gaza. These people were simply minding their own business, standing around being...

NEW YORK, NY — Mayor Zohran Mamdani attempted to deliver a solemn address to mark the anniversary of October 7th, but was derailed as his wife's party balloons kept floating through the picture. Having only just taken down her 9/11 party decorations, Mamdani's wife had spent the morning putting up banners and balloons for the couple's 10/7 festivities. Sadly, the Mylar balloons extolling the mass murder and rape of Israel continued to wander into the mayor's camera angle. "Today, we mark the third anniversary of the attacks of October 7th, a memory that I know is painful for... hold on,...

Florida voters will decide three certified statewide constitutional amendments on the November 3, 2026 general election ballot, all placed by the state legislature. Each measure requires 60% approval to pass. Amendment 1 (Budget Stabilization Fund): Increases the cap on the state’s "rainy day" fund from 10% to 25% of net general revenue and mandates annual transfers of the lesser of $750 million or the amount needed to reach that cap, allowing withdrawals for critical state needs. Amendment 2 (Agricultural Property Tax Exemption): Exempts tangible personal property used for agricultural production or agritourism—such as farm equipment and tools—from local property taxes,...

If you are booking a flight on United Air, maybe you should think twice. This is the caliber of people they have flying your planes. VIDEOS AT LINK............... So, this pilot defended Hamas killing innocents in Israel. Rightfully, United Air removed him from the cockpit. The ridiculous pilot's union defended him so he got his job back. We just saw what happened with another pilot who has terrorist sympathies last week. Thank God the passengers were able to subdue him. What if this guy goes off the rails and the passengers aren't as savvy next time? It gets worse. When...

Russia has finalized preparations to provide a $1 billion loan to Iran, with the funds ready for transfer once Tehran provides bank account details, Iranian media reported Tuesday. Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency said the payment process had been finalized but disagreements among Iranian government bodies over how the money should be spent have delayed the transfer. The loan was first reported in June and was described as the first installment of a planned $20 billion Russian loan to Iran, according to Fars.

Hezbollah has received $200 million from Iran to help Lebanese people displaced by this year’s war with Israel, say two people with direct knowledge of the transfer, the first significant aid from the group to supporters who bore the brunt of the conflict. Asked for comment, a Hezbollah official says an amount has been secured and a plan for distributing it will be announced in the coming days, without elaborating on the source of the funds. Iran has maintained financial support to Hezbollah through years of crippling US sanctions: it transferred $1 billion to the group in the first 10...

Space weather hazards. Asteroid impacts and impacting asteroids and why Mars needs a weather forecast if we're really going to explore it. The Questions We Need To Answer, The Solutions...
