The Pottsville-based brewery also knew that, so it delivered an early birthday gift of nearly 500 cans of her favorite Traditional Lager to her home in Spring Township, with her family and friends by her side. "There's five generations of her family," said Debbie Yuengling, employee engagement and culture manager for D.G. Yuengling & Son. "We have six generations in our family, and that's taken us almost 200 years. There's a lot of similarities, but I think it's...

Yuengling — America’s oldest brewery — ain’t sitting idly by as Bud Light sinks like a brick. In fact, it appears the iconic beer wants a little of that $5 billion action that Anheuser-Busch lost this week. In perfect passive aggressive fashion for 2023, Yuengling’s official twitter account was ready to pounce like a pack of wild wolves Friday afternoon. Shortly after AB released an official statement in the wake of the Dylan Mulvaney fallout, Yuengling fired off its first tweet in a week with a simple message: we make good beer! Yuengling vs. Bud Light. Who ya got? Could...

Dick Yuengling said he was "probably the happiest guy in the beer business" - until Tuesday. --snip-- The suit claims that Yuengling refused to let the city's Revenue Department audit its books, so the department made an assessment based on a Philly beer distributor's accounts-payable list. The suit has no details of what activities Yuengling conducted in Philadelphia that the city found to be taxable. City officials declined to elaborate. Green said that filing suit may have been the only way to access Yuengling's records. "This lawsuit will allow the Department of Revenue to do the discovery that Yuengling rejected,"...

Despite Yuengling’s double-digit growth rate, a slew of unserved states still clamor for its beer. Soon, some states could be competing for the honor of hosting the Pottsville beermaker’s next brewery. Last year, America’s oldest brewery became the nation’s largest American-owned brewer. With a move into Ohio last year, D.G. Yuengling & Son’s sales rose to about 2½ million barrels — enough to eclipse Boston Beer Co.’s Samuel Adams brands. ... U.S. beer sales volumes fell 2.2% last year, the highest rate since the 1950s, with demand worsening late in the year in a sign of the pressures on big brewers to make their mergers pay off. The decline, the industry's first since 2003, raises demands for industry leaders Anheuser-Busch InBev NV and MillerCoors LLC to come up with better advertising and to rethink recent price increases, said retailers and analysts. But they must tread carefully, balancing price moves against a need to drive profits in the wake of the mergers that created the two. The two giants increased prices by...
