Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg told reporters at the White House on Friday afternoon that Americans were using the “wrong” forms of transportation — a problem he said President Joe Biden’s $2.3 trillion infrastructure plan would fix. Buttigieg also claimed that some Americans have no access to transportation at all. He added that Americans would once again be “challenged” to expand their ideas about infrastructure, which he said went far beyond roads and bridges. He said: Americans are spending too much of their money on transportation in the wrong ways, or don’t have access to it at all. And the...

"We detained a person who was of Swedish nationality," a spokesman for the regional police told AFP. Barcelona's city hall said the small white truck -- which had dozens of orange gas bottles stacked on the back in plain view -- had been stolen. There was no indication as yet whether this was an attempted attack or just a plain robbery. Mireia Ruiz, a woman who saw the truck from her home nearby, said the driver ignored people screaming at him to stop as he sped down the wrong side of a ring road in the popular Spanish Mediterranean resort...

Several key navigation systems, including autopilot, were knocked out and the plane was unable to return to Sydney as low cloud and rain meant the flight crew couldn't see the runway.... According to the ATSB, the captain accidentally omitted a zero when he was entering the plane's longitude. This meant the navigation system thought the plane was near the South African city of Cape Town - 11,000 kilometres away.

Like most young conservatives, I find myself very concerned about the way the country is going. It really kicked in hard for me in the middle of 2006, when it became very clear Iraq was going south. Obviously I didn’t expect the blowout in 2008 back then.... Since November, many liberals and Democrats have declared the Republican Party dead -- and one could find reasons to agree with them, starting with the clear minority support for President Obama and Democrats and ending with Representative Joe Wilson’s public relations disaster yell of, “You lie!”. I, however, have great hope for Republicans.......

In one of the most hilarious cases of being tripped up by dubious scientific hype, British yachtsman Adrian Flanagan attempted to be the first to sail across the arctic north of Russia. He based his hope on the fact that he believed in the Global Warming propaganda that the arctic is rapidly losing its ice thus making his trip possible. One little problem. Cold cruel reality has crushed the Global Warming hype and now Flanagan's boat is trapped by ice in the arctic. To add to the irony, Flanagan who seems to be destined to go down in history as Wrong...

At the onset of the twenty-first century, humanity stands on the verge of the most transforming and the most thrilling period in its history. It will be an era in which the very nature of what it means to be human will be both enriched and challenged, as our species breaks the shackles of its genetic legacy and achieves inconceivable heights of intelligence, material progress, and longevity. For over three decades, the great inventor and futurist Ray Kurzweil has been one of the most respected and provocative advocates of the role of technology in our future. In his classic...

SAN DIEGO - The driver of an SUV packed with illegal immigrants and nearly 700 pounds of marijuana sped from police with his headlights off the wrong way on Interstate 8 before crashing head on into a California Highway Patrol car, officials said. Wednesday night's pursuit was the latest in a series of incidents involving smugglers who try to evade border checkpoints by veering into oncoming traffic, often at night, sometimes with their headlights off. At least one of the incidents has resulted in fatalities. "This year for some reason they're becoming more frequent," said Brian Pennings, a CHP spokesman...

John Kerry (D-Mass.) is vetting the leading candidates to be the next Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairman, and asking them to remain neutral in the presidential selection process in 2008. It is the latest indication that Kerry is putting down markers to run again for the party’s presidential nomination in 2008. His outreach to DNC candidates also marks his return to the fray after Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack, that candidate he was backing for chairman, ruled himself out of contention in November. The DNC contest is exposing the presidential ambitions of a number of Democratic politicians. In addition to Kerry,...
