A Blueprint for Republicans
Race 4 2012 ^ | 9/29/09 | Dustin Siggins

Posted on 10/09/2009 6:53:05 AM PDT by steve-b

Like most young conservatives, I find myself very concerned about the way the country is going. It really kicked in hard for me in the middle of 2006, when it became very clear Iraq was going south. Obviously I didn’t expect the blowout in 2008 back then....

Since November, many liberals and Democrats have declared the Republican Party dead -- and one could find reasons to agree with them, starting with the clear minority support for President Obama and Democrats and ending with Representative Joe Wilson’s public relations disaster yell of, “You lie!”. I, however, have great hope for Republicans....

Below is what I see as at least part of the path back to power for the Republican Party.

1) We need a leader– not necessarily a hard right-wing conservative (which is my preference--I refused to vote for Senator McCain in the general election...), but a qualified, successful leader who is at least conservative in the traditional fashion of small government, low-spending, low-tax, strong national defense conservatives (two examples are Tim Pawlenty and Jon Huntsman) who is against abortion....

2) We need to stay away from gay marriage....

3) We need to change our rhetoric. In particular, we need to do so in three areas: illegal immigration, race relations, and the role of government....

4) We need to bring back some of the intellectuals who believe the Republican Party is void of such thinking....

5) Opportunities arise periodically, and we must take advantage of them....

6) We must continue to battle for pro-life policies while working to create an environment that encourages less pre-marital sex and fewer pregnancies (such as more comprehensive sex education programs that include abstinence education in addition to w/hat is already taught in public schools)....

Author managed to get every single thing wrong.

Being Democrat lite, as this author argues the GOP should be, is what got the GOP into the Minority.

This author ideas will keep them there.

What a steamin’ pile of RINO dung. In other words, a typical post for you, steve-b.

Obviously not the case; note that the author refused to vote for McModerate because he wasn’t conservative enough.

4) We need to bring back some of the intellectuals who believe the Republican Party is void of such thinking....

Those "intellectuals" are committed political Leftists who will NEVER see anything favorable in the GOP.

Anyone who bothers to read the GOP alternative bills knows all the real intellectual ability is in the GOP, all the Democrats can think to do is tell sob stories and find ways for more spending.

te that the author refused to vote for McModerate because he wasn’t conservative enough.

And then turned around and endorsed McCain's favorite agenda, namely, catering to the illegal lobby.

As usual, you are easily fooled because you are both a fool and want to be fooled further.

And this guy is supposed to be a conservative? He advocates abandoning key conservative positions in the name of attracting more minority voters, and in doing so joins the ever-swelling ranks of Democrat-Lite “architects” for the GOP. No thanks.

No the Author is merely saying that to fraudulent claim “Conservative” credentials while advocating the same socially moderate, fiscally moderate agenda as the McCainites.

Try Conservatism. It wins every time it’s tried. Here’s another novel idea, stick with it even after the election.

How about a serious effort to clean up our financial sector? Of course, without the campaign money from same, they won’t get elected.

3) We need to change our rhetoric. In particular, we need to do so in three areas: illegal immigration, race relations, and the role of government

You mean be like Democrats? Support amnesty and the hell with the rule of law. Support affirmative action and other programs that discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, and gender. Support an expansion of government and be against limited government, i.e., more statism and less individual rights. Once we do all that, does it really matter what party is in power?

I think Republican challengers need a very simple message:

“I will listen to you.”

Period.

Another reach (around) across the aisle article by a RINO. They never learn. That or they actually want a democrat run government for decades.

This is why the “republican” party finds itself in trouble. Utterly without principles.

All defense, all the time. Accepting the liberal pretense of every question. Fear of telling the truth.

It’s all weasel words for the “independent” voter. Independents are liberals without the courage of conviction.

“We can run big government better” is the message. Doomed to failure.

Conservative = liberty, freedom, self expression and self control.

Democrat = collectivism, the hive, the borg, the state. Tyranny and crushing government control. All things must be approved by the state.

Another dish of Left-wing socialist crap to sling onto the dung heap.

I love it when leftists tell conservatives what we need to do.

We need to PRUGE the party of leftist RINO’s and send them where they belong, to the democrats.

What the GOP needs is;

1. A strong stand against illegal immigration.

2. A strong statement in favor of capitalism.

3. A strong statement for life.

4. A strong statement for traditional marriage and getting government (at all levels) out of the marriage business.

5. A strong, clear vision on how to win/get out of Afganistan.

6. They need to put forth conservative candidates or expect to lose.

I think we do need a strong conservative leader we need to stand by our principles that is the problem today to many people want to compromise what they stand for
2) We need to stay away from gay marriage....
No We need to stand our principles and let people know why we oppose it but let them know we do not want them indoctrinating our children
3) We need to change our rhetoric. In particular, we need to do so in three areas: illegal immigration, race relations, and the role of government....
No the problem is we are letting the Democrat party define our position on these issues We need to stand by our position and define our positions ourselves
4) We need to bring back some of the intellectuals who believe the Republican Party is void of such thinking....
So we are all neanderthals. Republican and conservatives do think That is why we see the problems. Liberals just do not like the way we think
5) Opportunities arise periodically, and we must take advantage of them...
This is true it happens because well allow the Democrats to speak for us and do not defend our position
6) We must continue to battle for pro-life policies while working to create an environment that encourages less pre-marital sex and fewer pregnancies (such as more comprehensive sex education programs that include abstinence education in addition to w/hat is already taught in public schools).... If we get the power we must use it!
Stand by our principles
We had all three branches of government we could have change the Abortions laws cut spending instead we didn't. A democracy deserves the government it gets we keep putting the same people in power and the power corrupts. To many people are thinking what they can get from there government. Even if we retake congress and the presidency there needs to be a fundamental change in how we view government otherwise we will just delay the inevitable
