The slur goes something like "you had one job to do", but because I'm a geek, immersed in IT and knowledgeable about webmaster things, I know it's a spoke in a wheel. But when there's a Copyright List that every responsible FReeper goes to when posting from a source which isn't familiar, there's a reasonable expectation that following what's stated on the Copyright List page is correct. I, for one, have MUCH BETTER things to do than to spend the time - repeatedly - posting something to FR only to have the message pop up "Post blocked due to copyright...

SNIPPET: "A webmaster from Normandy, northern France was arrested and charged on Thursday for "provoking" and condoning terrorism. He is accused of translating articles from the jihadist magazine Inspire into French." SNIPPET: "The 26-year-old, identified as Romain, was detained Tuesday for his role as administrator of the Ansar al Haqq website, a "reference" for the radical Islamist movement, and as a translator of magazines put out by militant group Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), Paris prosecutors said. Detained by intelligence officers in his native Calvados region of northern France, Romain said he converted to Islam when he was 20, prosecutors said. The Ansar...

I have a blog that gets quite a few hits. I would love to find out exactly how many, but the hit counters I have found I dont trust. Most seem to use a hosting service that I have questions about. Does anyone have and know how to insert a web hit counter that is safe and effective? Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

Dear people of Free Republic, I recently had to come into this wonderful country that is your website. After reading a post about the come back of Bruce Springsteen andt the fact that you think he is anti-american and a traitor just because he dared to use his FREEdom to speak and said publicly that Bush was a liar., i told myself, that, if this wonderful country uses the word FREE to call itself, I should use this opportunity to answer and to use MY FREEdom to speak as well. I posted under “blec93” an article showing how high the...

My name is Andrew Tanenbaum. I am one of the 7 million U.S. citizens living abroad. I am a professor of computer science at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Most of you have never heard of me but in an itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny corner of the universe I have done enough stuff that Google has somehow managed to dig up 10,000 pages referring to me. When I am not collecting data, analyzing it, or blogging, my day job is doing the kind of stuff professors at major research universities normally do. The best part is working with young people,...

WASHINGTON – Though the Homeland Security Department has not terminated a high-ranking department official accused of resume fraud, sources say she's been denied the security clearance she needs to perform her job. Laura Callahan, the department's deputy chief information officer, was placed on paid leave in June while officials investigate her academic credentials. The advanced degrees she lists on her resume are from a diploma mill. Callahan's assistant, Jim Shepard, says she is still out on leave and has not been fired. However, sources say she was denied Top Secret clearance and is appealing the decision. Callahan's lawyer did not...

I would like to start a forum for Republican WebMasters. On my site, http://www.electgop.net, I use PHP and mySQL database. (like ASP and MS SQL Server, only Free) This enables rapid development of database driven web sites that can send email as well as collect information from online forms. I will mentor aggressive Republican Webmasters, who would truly help to get the Right information out to voters. Ken Weide, WebMaster http://www.electgop.net DFW (Dallas/Fort Worth), Texas
