Authorities say they have identified a group of teenagers suspected of swimming in a water tower after video surfaced. The Snohomish Police Department says the suspects hopped a fence, cut through two locks, scaled the 80-foot (24-meter) tower and jumped inside Snohomish's water reservoirs. Authorities say a YouTube video shows at least one suspect jumping in the water, and charges are expected to be filed against the group... Officials say water quality tests have been conducted and the water is considered safe to drink.

What was likely intended as a prank, is not amusing officials on the Iron Range. Police in Virginia say someone climbed up on the city water tower and changed the ‘n’ on ‘Queen City’ to an ‘r.’ The vandalism was discovered Monday morning. City officials say the vandalism took some effort, as the entire area is surrounded by barbed wired. The incident is being treating as a criminal investigation, and the water tower was re-painted a few hours after the discovery.

From Kofi Annan's press briefing today.... Q: On the tapes purporting that Saddam Hussein had warned the Americans that a WMD terrorist attack was coming, but not from Iraq. Do you take that seriously, or do you think it's water under the bridge and the whole thing should be forgotten? SEC.-GEN. ANNAN: I really haven't read in detail all these comments. At this stage, I think we should move on. We have a very challenging situation in Iraq which should be of interest to all of us to do whatever we can to stabilize. I would want to focus on...

Aug 23, 2005 8:23 am US/Eastern WEIPPE, Idaho (AP) It’s a big issue in this small town: Should Weippe bring back the gorilla? Members of the City Council recently split on whether to repaint the gorilla caricature that for decades had been on the side of the 76-foot-tall water tank in the town. It was the council’s first divided vote since the 1980s. The gorilla was the mascot of the old Weippe High School before it was combined with neighboring Timberline High School in 1970. It was painted over three years ago. Maxine Johnstun, 83, has led the charge to...

Holes in San Diego(Texas) water source may be terrorism, police say. For the city of San Diego, somebody's idea of a New Year's celebration - or even an act of terrorism - could cost nearly $10,000 and 400,000 gallons of water as well as cause limited service to area residents for a time after the incident. As San Diego residents rang in the New Year with car horns, fireworks and firearms, four bullets struck the water tower on the north side of town. But city officials aren't necessarily treating the incident as if it were a New Year's prank. $10,000...

RIPON -- More than a dozen people shared their ideas Tuesday night about what phrase should be painted on the 175-foot-tall water tower at Jack Tone Road and Highway 99. After nearly an hour of debate, the City Council voted unanimously to leave it blank. In the past few weeks, residents have wrangled over whether "God Bless America," "One Nation Under God," or "In God We Trust" should be emblazoned on the water tower. "I would hate to see that tower become a billboard," said Councilman Mike Restuccia. "I don't think it shows anymore than a reaction to something that...
