Just moments after the end of Super Bowl XL, Washington State Governor Christine O. Gregoire issued a formal demand that the NFL recount the points scored by the Seattle Seahawks.Citing the successful, "recount 'em 'til we win" plan that brought her to office, Gregoire called for a panel of three Seattle Board of Elections officials to watch the replay of the big game until, as the Washington Democrat put it,"the right team wins". There was no immediate comment from the NFL, but ABC television has offered to provide the necessary video tape, "in the spirit of fairness".

Republicans have discovered and verified 737 illegal votes in Washington's ultra-close governor's election, state party leaders said Wednesday. Gregoire won the election by just 129 votes in a hand recount of 2.9 million ballots, after losing the first two counts to Republican Dino Rossi. She was inaugurated earlier this month.

I know this is really random but while reading an article about the Washington Election I came to a realization. This is really a lot like the Chris Farley, David Spade movie, Black Sheep. Not only do the characters look a little like Gregoire and Rossi, but it is about a gubernatorial election in Washington State where the female candidate steals the election only to be exposed as having committed voter fraud after she is inaugurated. For the third time this summer, state Republican Party officials have failed to convince a big-name candidate to run for governor. Former Microsoft executive Bob Herbold said yesterday he will not run for office, after weeks of courting by the party.
