DOGE chief Elon Musk appeared on Fox News Channel’s “Special Report” on Thursday. During a wide-ranging interview, Musk discussed the Russia-Ukraine conflict and how it would ultimately be resolved. Musk criticized those championing the continuation of the conflict, who were doing so as a so-called “virtue signal.” “Obviously, there are some Republicans who think supporting Ukraine is the right thing, still,” FNC host Bret Baier said. “But there is a battle back and forth about how. How do you think it comes to an end?” Musk replied, “Well, I think there will be a negotiated peace. And the thing that...

Almost every story in the news boils down to the same story: Man is on the endangered species list. A week ago, I wrote about the so-called "Montreal Massacre" - which happened on the scale it did because the "men" walked away and abandoned their female classmates to their fate. You can't discuss that - not honestly - in the Canadian press, but, over at American Thinker, Eric Utter commented: Real men, marinating in their 'toxic masculinity,' will stand up for women and say "enough!" as regards 'trans women' in women's bathrooms and locker rooms. And real men, of the...

Michael Mortiz, a major Democratic donor, has joined the calls for President Biden to drop out of the presidential race against former President Trump. With his public comment, Mortiz — a billionaire Silicon Valley venture capitalist — becomes one of the Democratic party’s largest contributors to pressure Biden to suspend his campaign. “Sadly, President Biden has a choice — vanity or virtue,” Mortiz said in an email Friday to The New York Times. “He can either condemn the country to dark and cruel times or heed the voice of Father Time. The clock has run out.” The Times noted that...

In an Instagram post on Thursday, Green Beret combat veteran and dad of three Nick Freitas shared with his followers a 2017 WRTV Indianapolis interview with Jack Reynolds, a pedophile who targeted children in the 1980s and spent 12 years in prison for it. In the interview, Reynolds was asked what “characteristics” he “looked for in children before molesting them.” Reynolds responded by saying it was a child’s family that mattered more than the actual child. “If I thought the father was a threat, I would not approach the child,” he said. Freitas said this revelation means a few things...

Recall, Christians, what Sacred Scripture declareth: "Pride goeth before destruction: and the spirit is lifted up before a fall." [Proverbs 16:18]And also: "Pride is the beginning of all sin. He that holdeth it, shall be filled with maledictions, and it shall ruin him in the end." [Ecclesiasticus, 10:15]Pride is numbered in the Catholic Catechism among the Seven Deadly Sins [CCC 1866]. Writing in the early Seventh Century AD, Pope Saint Gregory the Great reflected on the sin of pride in his epochal Moralia in Job, saying: "Whoever extols himself above his proper condition, is weighed down by the very burden...

Silicon Valley Bank was closed by the FDIC due to the bank losing over 60% of its value after the company disclosed major losses from security sales. Many political pundits and investors have called for lawmakers to bailout out the failed bank. Those advocating for bailouts have shied away from telling the public that SVB employees and affiliates voted in the leaders responsible for the current economic crisis. Open Secret’s data reveals in the 2020 election cycle Silicon Valley Bank employees and affiliates donated over $188,000 dollars to political candidates. Over 90% of the donations which amounted to $173,434 went...

In the context of another thread here at Free Republic, I chanced to use the term "moral elephantiasis," which I remember from a long ago reading of National Review. Out of curiosity, I typed those two words into Google, in quotes, and found a number of interesting things. One of the things I found was the full text of the original article which I read, at the age of 23 or so; that article had been read into the Congressional Record by then Georgia Congressman Larry McDonald. I transcribed the article (with significant help from the PDF OCR algorithm), and...

How ironic that Denver is getting exactly what it wanted and voted for but is now complaining and wanting American taxpayers to pay the bill for their cost-free virtue signaling. Virtue signaling is a current pastime of Democrats and the left. The Cambridge Dictionary defines it, Virtue signaling is the popular modern habit of indicating that one has virtue merely by expressing disgust or favor for certain political ideas or cultural happenings.Climate warriors signal their virtue about global warming. For example, those screeching loudest over rising sea levels, including Barack Obama, Bill Gates, and John Kerry, own waterfront homes that...

Comedian Bill Maher railed against critical race theory and woke Democrats in a far-reaching interview with Chris Cuomo Wednesday night — condemning the controversial education movement as “just virtue-signaling” and accusing liberals of being “afraid to acknowledge progress.” “It’s just something going on in the schools that never went on before,” Maher said on CNN’s “Cuomo Prime Time.”

“The American people should not be deprived of the chance to see the two candidates for president debate face to face two more times just because the Commission on Presidential Debates wants to protect Joe Biden. It remains extremely suspect that the CPD announced the brand new virtual format at 7:30am ET today immediately after Vice President Mike Pence had just wiped the floor with Senator Kamala Harris. Clearly the commission wanted to shift attention away from Pence’s complete victory. As President Trump said, a virtual debate is a non-starter and would clearly be a gift to Biden because he...

My membership is expiring this month at "BJ's Wholesale" a warehouse club store out of Massachusetts. Recently they closed one of these stores in my upstate NY town (before Covid fiasco) so I go to a local town nearby to buy cheaper gas and certain items in bulk. Much to my chagrin, several (mostly younger) workers were wearing company sponsored "end racism" tshirts. That was it. I was on the fence about renewing anyway since the one close by has closed.

If future generations are to look upon Old Glory and see it as a symbol of hope, freedom, and justice, we must always protect and defend what we know to be true about it. These three words, which have also been painted on statues of people deemed problematic for their historical shortcomings, seem to carry the same weight the Stars and Stripes once did. Similarly, many professional athletes are now permitted to kneel or even remain in the locker room during the national anthem or to print social justice slogans on their jerseys. Traditional expressions of patriotism have become taboo...

“Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice,” said 1964 Republican presidential nominee Barry Goldwater. “Moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue!” He was wrong on both counts. Zeal for liberty can be (and sometimes is) taken way too far, and without moderation, even the noblest of goals is easily turned into something evil. A great example of this: the French Revolution. The revolution began with some long-overdue reforms. It abolished the special privileges of nobles and clergy and guaranteed Frenchmen fundamental rights similar to those promised in our own Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights....

MUMBAI/ISLAMABAD - Unilever will drop the word “fair” from its “Fair & Lovely” brand of skin lightening products which are popular in South Asia but have long been criticised for promoting negative stereotypes against people with darker skin. Companies face a mounting backlash on social media in the wake of the Black Lives Matter movement. Products marketed for skin lightening have a huge market in South Asia due to a societal obsession with fairer skin tones, but those notions are being questioned more frequently as perceptions change. Johnson & Johnson this month said it would stop selling skin-whitening creams which...

REASON #2: VIRTUE In the last article, we learned that the Greeks established the first principles of architecture by studying nature. The proportions that are most pleasing to the human eye are those of nature’s greatest work of art—the human body. We learned that God gave man reason and the desire to know, but he did not leave us without guides. He gave us the Greeks, the world’s first systematic, abstract thinkers. And so we study and honor the Greeks because they teach us how to use reason to explore and understand our world, a world that is material and...

John Adams wrote A Dissertation on the Canon and Feudal Law, 1765: "The desire of dominion ... when ... restraints are taken off ... becomes an encroaching, grasping, restless, and ungovernable power ... contrived by the great for the gratification of this passion ... Originally formed ... for the necessary defense ... against ... invasions ... yet ... tyranny, cruelty, and lust ... was soon adopted by almost all the princes of Europe ... The people were held in ignorance ... till God in his benign providence raised up the champions who began and conducted the Reformation. From the time...

GREAT WALL OF CHINA By 220AD, the Later Eastern Han Dynasty had extended sections of the Great Wall of China along its Mongolian border. This resulted in the Northern Huns attacking west instead of east. This caused a domino effect of displaced tribes migrating west across Central Asia, and overrunning the Western Roman Empire. OPEN BORDERS Illegal immigrants poured across the Roman borders: Visigoths, Ostrogoths, Franks, Anglos, Saxons, Alemanni, Thuringians, Rugians, Jutes, Picts, Burgundians, Lombards, Alans, Vandals, as well as African Berbers and Arab raiders. Will and Ariel Durant wrote in The Story of Civilization (Vol. 3-Caesar and Christ, Simon...
