There is an advertising campaign on right now for an organization called IAVA. Its website is given as CommunityOfVeterans.org. It sounds very high minded. But it was started as an organization called “Operation Truth” during 2004 as part of the Kerry campaign. This organization is funded by George Soros and is designed to make veterans think they are victimized by the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and persuade them to support liberal candidates for office and anti-war measures. They claim to be non-partisan, but if they are, why were all the candidates they supported for election to federal office in 2006...

Honored with Public Service Award, bloggers erupt in outrage The U.S. Navy awarded U.S. Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., its Distinguished Public Service Award, triggering an Internet campaign to have Navy Secretary Donald C. Winter withdraw it. Murtha, who publicly accused U.S. Marines of cold-blooded murder in a firefight in Haditha, Iraq, and was caught on camera in the Abscam scandal appearing to negotiate a bribe, was honored by the Navy for his "selfless devotion to the Nation's Sailors and Marines." The award credits him with making sure the military services "were provided the resources necessary to effectively conduct the...

Here is a very powerful ad out by Vets For Freedom that hits Democrat Congressman from Pennsylvania John Murtha for his attacks on the integrity of U.S. Marines who served in Hadita. Murtha said Marines "went into houses a killed women and children." The Marines call him on the carpet here for those statements. . . . . (Watch Video)

Vets Tribute to Tony Snow [Pete Hegseth] I never had the good fortune of meeting Tony Snow. Our organization—Vets for Freedom—however, was fortunate enough to cross paths with Mr. Snow during our early days. In December of 2005, while hosting his daily Fox News Radio program, Mr. Snow read an op-ed live on the air that was written from a returning soldier. The soldier, David Bellavia—now the VFF Vice Chairman—felt that his leadership in Washington was failing our efforts to win the war in Iraq. Mr. Snow would later write a follow up piece on this topic. Wade Zirkle, the...

Republican John McCain, who has made support for President Bush's troop buildup in Iraq the centerpiece of his presidential campaign, is getting from help from a veterans group that's launching a national TV ad campaign next week. For the first time, the presidential campaign of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is about to get a substantial hand from advertisements by an outside group. Conservative and Republican groups have been largely quiet, leaving McCain heavily outmatched by Sen. Barack Obama's campaign fundraising juggernaut. Next week, Vets for Freedom — a 20,000-member, nonpartisan organization established by combat veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan — plans to begin spending more than $1 million on a TV campaign that will include Ohio, Virginia and New Mexico. The group plans to spend millions more and to add other states to the...

On Friday, Vets for Freedom PAC released an advertisement featuring Iraq war veteran Sergeant Garrett Anderson. The ad points out that Senator Obama was unwilling to meet with Illinois veterans, has never met with General Petraeus, and hasn’t visited Iraq in over two years. The facts are the facts, and the ad speaks for itself.
