Because COVID-19 vaccines are no longer being distributed by the federal government, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has stopped printing those little white vaccine cards that were once so ubiquitous during the COVID pandemic. The cards' discontinuation isn't expected to be a big change, as experts say it’s unlikely we’ll return to the era when COVID vaccine cards functioned like IDs to enter restaurants, see a show or board an international flight. Tangtang Zhao, a 34-year-old licensed pharmacist from Chicago, was arrested Tuesday on charges related to selling 125 authentic CDC vaccination cards to unvaccinated buyers on eBay. The pharmacy where Zhao previously worked offered COVID-19 vaccinations, providing Zhao with easy access to the CDC's white COVID-19 vaccine cards. He allegedly charged buyers approximately $10 per card and sold them online — leading to an indictment of 12 counts of government property theft. Beginning Oct. 4, Live Nation’s fully owned and operated venues and festivals will be requiring all artists and fans to either show proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID test, where permitted by law.
