EL PASO - It seems spillover violence has hit the UTEP campus. At least one of the bullets from yesterday's shootout has been found in a university building tonight. We're told the bullet struck the South door of Bell Hall, went through the glass panel and was found embedded in an office doorframe. Police believe it happened during the gunbattle in Juarez last night that caused police to shut down Paisano Dr. from Executive to Downtown. A second bullet from last nights shootout in Juarez may have struck an El Paso car. We first showed you this car last night,...

EL PASO, Texas -- The widespread violence in Juarez is affecting a lot of things in El Paso, including the UTEP athletic program. The basis of UTEP's athletic teams are formed by recruiting student-athletes from across the state and country to study and play in El Paso. And now many of them, especially their parents, are now expressing concern about what is going on across the border. UTEP's campus is located just a few football fields away from Juarez, where thousands have been murdered this year, and that is not easy to hide. "I just recruited a girl from Sweden...

My Longhorn friends were really looking forward to this week’s game thinking this week’s game against UT El Paso Miners would be an easy win. A win that would put the Horns back on solid ground and quiet any concerns fans may have had from last week’s shaky win, but it’s another week and a different game. The game got off to a fast start with a UT El Paso fumble and quick touchdown run by Horns RB, Tre Newton, all within the first couple of minutes of the game. Texas 7, UTEP 0. A few minutes later QB, Colt...

Doctors performed an angioplasty and inserted a stent to increase the flow in the artery, which carries blood away from the heart. Olivas said the nonsurgical procedure went smoothly.

Students sue UTEP over free speech policy Associated Press EL PASO -- A University of Texas at El Paso policy requiring students to get permits for speeches and deliver them in "free-speech areas" is a violation of the First Amendment, according to a lawsuit filed by two students. The lawsuit, filed by sophomore Ruben L. Reyes and junior Kristofer Johnson, names four UTEP administrators, including President Diana Natalicio, and members of the University of Texas System Board of Regents. "I am amazed that people who presume to be teachers are limiting the rights of students in such an extreme and...
