My Longhorn friends were really looking forward to this weeks game thinking this weeks game against UT El Paso Miners would be an easy win. A win that would put the Horns back on solid ground and quiet any concerns fans may have had from last weeks shaky win, but its another week and a different game.
The game got off to a fast start with a UT El Paso fumble and quick touchdown run by Horns RB, Tre Newton, all within the first couple of minutes of the game. Texas 7, UTEP 0.
A few minutes later QB, Colt McCoy throws an interception and UTEPs DB, Melvin Stephenson scores a touchdown. Longhorn fans worry. Texas 7, UTEP 7.
Longhorn fans concerns subside as the Horns get right back in the game with WR, DJ Monroes 91 yard run into the end zone for six points. But uncharacteristically kicker, Hunter Lawrence misses the extra point. Texas 13, UTEP 7

Playing Little Sisters of the Poor next week?
Why in the world does the NCAA schedule these lopsided matchups?
My 1AA Al mama gets spanked for the money.
Because the “sister of the poor” schools earn around $500k to get walloped by the big schools. That financial gain helps keep these small schools’ athletic departments funded.
Maybe, although they haven't played any good teams yet.
The way they determine who is the champion of this stupid sport is so dumb they ought to give the trophy to the guy who does the scheduling. They sure as hell don’t rely much on what happens on the field. The last time Indiana beat Michigan was back in the 60’s. God was probably a kid the time Rice had anything.
The guy who does the scheduling, the refs, and the reporters play a bigger part in determining the NC than players on the field.
Really? The please explain how Cal, Miami, and Penn State were all upset yesterday? Granted, Miami was playing a ranked team, but the other two teams were not. Your "stupid sport" remark makes me wonder why you even clicked on this thread.

I clicked on it read about a sport that doesn’t settle an argument on the field. The solution to the problem is really simple. Take the top 10 teams and have a playoff. If number 11 feels they were screwed there must have been a reason they were considered number 11 and not number 1. Try harder next year. Yeah, you would still have to rely on the reporters and coaches with their bias doing the voting but it is better than what they have now.
And for teams like Rice, Baylor, SMu Indiana etc who haven’t fielded a good team in years ..do like they do in soccer and demote their asses to div 2. Top teams in div 2 would take their place.
I agree about the playoff. The BCS is the worst thing that could have happened to college football. However, it won’t change since the BCS is such a money-maker. You are aware that top schools played patsies before the BCS, right?
Why do you continue to torment yourself, reading about a sport that you don't like?
Because it’s money for the small schools, and who knows, every once in awhile you get an Appalachian State beating Michigan.
Actually I get a good laugh.

Of course I am. Indiana, Northwestern, and Minnesota have played a big part in helping OSU get their NC’s over the years. That is my point. If OSU had to be in a playoff they might still be looking for their first trophy. The same is true with other schools. At least in the pros they have some kind of playoff system at work. Unfortunately, they also have owners like the one in Cincinnati who couldn’t care less where the bungels end up as long as the sheep keep paying to watch.
