University of Nebraska officials announced Friday that new steps are being taken in relation to an incident involving a conservative student Aug. 25. NU President Hank Bounds said the graduate student-lecturer who called a conservative student a “neo-fascist” for recruiting for Turning Point USA would no longer teach at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

A trio of Huskers combined for the eighth no-hitter in school history on Tuesday afternoon, as Kyle Kubat, Tyler Niederklein and Dylan Vogt held the No. 10 Arkansas Razorbacks hitless in a 3-0 Nebraska win in the first game of a doubleheader. Daily Nebraskan Editor-in-Chief Brian Anthony Hernandez resigned Wednesday night. Hernandez, a senior news-editorial major at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, had to forgo his position so that he could put more attention toward his classes. “The Daily Nebraskan has always been important to me,” Hernandez said, “but my education is just as important, if not more.” Earlier this semester, Hernandez found out he would be on academic probation at the university, and discussed the matter with DN General Manager Dan Shattil. Contrary to previous reports, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln did intend to use public and NU Foundation funds to pay for William Ayers’ visit, UNL said Thursday. Ayers’ $1,000 honorarium was to have come from state funds allocated to the College of Education and Human Sciences, UNL said.
