The billionaire’s plans, which were reported in The Washington Post last week, would account for 5,500 of the 7,500-strong workforce. Mr Musk previously described Twitter’s workforce as bloated, saying it had a “strong, left-wing bias”. Before the deadline to agree on a deal on Friday, October 28 , TIME reports that it has seen a draft of an open letter that Twitter employees plan to circulate. The employees demand that Mr Musk commits to preserving the company’s existing workforce. They argue that he should not discriminate against employees based on their political beliefs. There are also demands that the potential...

Twitter on Sunday took down a tweet containing a false claim about coronavirus death statistics that was made by a supporter of the baseless QAnon conspiracy theory -- a post that President Donald Trump had retweeted earlier in the day. The tweet -- which has been replaced with a message saying, "This Tweet is no longer available because it violated the Twitter Rules -- from "Mel Q," copied from someone else's Facebook post, claimed that the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had "quietly" updated its numbers "to admit that only 6%" of people listed as coronavirus deaths "actually...

CNN is reportedly set to impose a “net 90” payment term on freelance employees beginning in June, meaning the company’s freelancers will be paid just once every three months. “In a blow to their financial stability, CNN sent a letter to several of the network’s freelancers this week, extending their payment terms to net 90 (payment 90 days after invoice). The move has met with significant blowback. “Net 90 is NOT a reasonable payment term for people who must pay rent every 30 days,” Freelancers Union Executive Director Caitlin Pierce wrote on Thursday. “CNN is effectively asking freelancers to finance...

VIDEO So after two years of INTENSE investigation into the supposed Trump-Russia collusion that was hyped by most of the mainstream media as an absolute FACT, we now have a conclusion from Senator Richard Burr, Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Guess what? He has concluded that there is NO EVIDENCE of Trump-Russia collusion and his ranking minority member, Mark Warner, has not contested that conclusion. Of course the DUmmies were quite irked that President Donald Trump tweeted out Burr's conclusion. In this edition of the DUmmie FUnnies we only look briefly at the DUmmies and concentrate on the Twitter...

After news came out about mass layoffs at HuffPost, Buzzfeed and Gannett -- in the midst of the media's relentless smear-job against the Covington Catholic students -- right-wing Twitter had a field day. Tons of leftist journalists announced they were laid off on Twitter and the top meme was telling them to "learn to code" -- which is the same advice the media gave middle Americans whose jobs are being taken in traditional industries. Talia Levin, who was hired by Media Matters last year after being fired by the New Yorker for smearing an ICE agent as a Nazi because...

The New York Times reports that special counsel Robert Mueller “is scrutinizing tweets and negative statements from the president about Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the former FBI director James B. Comey.” The Old Gray Lady did not divulge whether the special counsel also seeks the names of books checked out on the president’s library card. .... The investigation exposes the investigators more than the investigated. It reveals the umpires as partisan players. It demonstrates lawbreaking by law enforcers. It sows distrust in institutions heretofore beloved by the American people.

A study of U.S. Navy statistics from Fox News tells a story of two presidential administrations, at least in terms of Iranian provocations of the U.S. military. (Snip) Iranian vessels pestered American naval ships only 14 times in 2017, Trump’s first year, and that number has fallen to an incredible zero occurrences of Iranian aggression so far in 2018.

On Monday morning, Twitter erupted after Kanye West posted a screenshot of a text exchange he had with a friend about Abraham Lincoln. Los Angeles still leads the nation in television pilot production, but a study released today by FilmL.A. reveals that the home of Hollywood took a double-digit hit this year to fall to its lowest total since 2009. However, with pilots down this most recent cycle in all the major production centers except tax-incentive lucrative Louisiana, a jump in straight-to-series orders by cable outlets and the streaming services might be part of the problem.

On Tuesday’s CNN Newsroom, Anderson Cooper talked to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi about what she was doing to help the victims of the Orlando nightclub shooting and their families. Instead of focusing on the topic at end, Cooper decided to attack Bondi on her gay rights record, relentlessly asking if she was a hypocrite for helping the gay community now when she allegedly didn’t defend them in office. In the five minute interview, Cooper repeatedly asked Bondi to explain how she could defend the victims of this shooting after “years” of “basically going after gay people” in court. “Do...

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- On Twitter, another "Chip Kelly" is bearing the brunt of the fury against the former Eagles coach, by the same name. 41-year-old Chip Kelly from California has used the Twitter handle @ChipKelly for about 8 years. He's been mistaken as the former Eagles head coach before, but nothing could have prepared him for Tuesday's firestorm on his Twitter account.

When President Obama was reelected in 2012, MSNBC was “leaning forward” and smiling wide as Obama 2.0 propelled it to record ratings and a firm grasp on the No. 2 spot in cable news. Over two years later, the network has fallen backwards. January ratings revealed double-digit declines compared with January, 2014 in all ratings measurements. During the day, MSNBC was down 20 percent in viewers and 37 percent in the advertising-coveted 25-54 demo. In primetime, it fell 23 percent in viewers and 39 percent in demo.

It seems that the rhetoric against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) has gone from hateful to downright graphic and violent. The Capitol Police are investigating online threats made by an individual against the Texas senator, a Cruz spokesperson said Friday. The threatening posts were made on Twitter by someone who identifies himself as Troy Gilmore Jr. and uses the Twitter handle @ArmyVet54. He has also listed Cruz’s home address in Houston several times and argued he needs to be “taught a street wise lesson.â€â€œTake down Ted Cruz, at his home,†the person tweeted, listing CruzÂ’s home address in Houston.“Lets Find Ted...

However, Barkley has had problems with Twitter–and its users–in the past. “Tweet is for losers. Tweet is for losers. What I mean by that. If you wake up in the morning and you worried about what I’m doing, you are a damn idiot. You are a damn idiot,” Barkley said on his website in 2011.

The Obama administration got some backing Sunday for the way in which it responded as terrorists attacked the US diplomatic facility in Benghazi, Libya, last September – a night of violence and confusion during which Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans were killed. Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates, a Republican who served in both the Bush and Obama administrations, said if he had been at the Pentagon at that time, "Frankly … I think my decisions would have been just as theirs were.” Republican critics have said a Special Forces team or overflights by fighter aircraft based in Italy...
