The White House on Monday warned that the "world needs to be prepared for a very long, difficult road ahead" as Russia continues its invasion of Ukraine for a twelfth day. White House press secretary Jen Psaki said the United States will continue to support the Ukrainians as they "fight back" but maintained that U.S. troops will not fight in the country and stopped short of vowing a ban on Russian oil imports.

In a newspaper piece about a White House in turmoil, a prominent paper described an atmosphere of beleaguered aides confused by their unscripted boss, a man who needed a "rudder on what many believed was a loose and listing ship." This is not from a recent piece about President Donald Trump's White House. The Washington Post, in 1997, wrote this about President Bill Clinton and the state of his presidency in mid-1994. The White House staff, wrote the Post, "was suffering from what increasingly looked to be callowness and naivete." Enter veteran congressman and new chief of staff Leon Panetta,...

Secret Service agents cleared the White House's North Lawn Tuesday morning while the president was home after a man reportedly said he had a bomb. The North Lawn was evacuated and reporters were locked into the press room so that armed agents could search the area just before 10:30am. Around 11:50am, the shelter in place was listed but agents continued to investigate the suspect's package behind a secure perimeter... Just before 11am, the Secret Service confirmed that they were investigating a suspicious package near the grounds. About 50 minutes later, they said they had a suspect in custody and that...

With mere hours remaining in his presidency, we can now return to the promises then-Senator Obama made as a candidate and see how he actually performed as president. In reviewing his speeches the 2007-2008 campaign season, we've identified 13 promises that became regular features in his stump speech. The record shows Obama failed to deliver on every one. Here’s the tale of the tape.

Historians will one day look back at the presidency of Barack Obama and highlight the administration’s dangerous willingness to short-circuit the Constitution when convenient. From refusing to enforce immigration laws and disregarding rules governing presidential appointments to the outright takeover of our health care system, President Obama has repeatedly painted outside the lines to reward his friends, punish his enemies or to achieve his legislative and political objectives. There can be little debate that Hollywood and the recording industry have been some of the president’s strongest allies. They invested millions in his reelection campaign and are often credited with helping...

After delaying the employer mandate to provide Obamacare health insurance to all full time employees for a year, the administration has delayed the mandate for medium size business for a second year. It has also relaxed the mandate for large businesses (they only have to cover 70% of their workers the next year). All of this is lawlessness of course. The statute clearly says that the mandate is supposed to kick in this year. So why is President Obama taking the extra-constitutional step of letting employers temporarily off the hook? The reason is not hard to understand. Millions of workers...

Giving Congress up to September 21 to stop the invasion of Iraq, Reverend Lennox Yearwood, CEO of the Hip Hop Caucus of Washington D.C., and Church of God and Christ minister, plans to lead a press conference in front of the White House to protest the war in Iraq on Thursday (Sept. 21). Yearwood, citing a moral obligation, says that he, along with 270 cities and 350 organizations nationwide, will no longer be passive observers of Bush's War on Terror. "We are in a time of peril in which people of morals have to stand up. We are willing to...

ANGELES (Reuters) - Karl Rove, U.S. President George W. Bush's senior political advisor, on Tuesday took the administration's message on immigration reform to Latino leaders, saying the country was approaching a "critical moment" in the debate. >br> Speaking at the annual convention of leading Latino civic group the National Council of La Raza, Rove said Bush would work with Republicans and Democrats in coming weeks to push through reform legislation that has bitterly divided Congress, the Republican Party and the nation. "We face a critical moment in our immigration debate, a moment when our nation will make an important decision...

White House adviser Karl Rove is scheduled to speak tomorrow at the annual conference of the federally funded, left-wing, open-borders-advocacy group, the National Council of La Raza. If he does not want his speech to look like an act of appeasement, he should confront La Raza on its opposition to commonsense policies designed to secure both U.S. borders and U.S. pocketbooks. La Raza, which means “The Race” in Spanish, has denounced as “horrendous” and “appalling” the House immigration bill passed in December, which was sponsored by Judiciary Chairman James Sensenbrenner (R.-Wis.) and supported by the overwhelming majority of House Republicans....

US President George W Bush reportedly doesn't want to meet with Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg. Norway also seems to have lost an influential role within NATO, apparently, some say, because of Norway's lack of enthusiasm for the war in Iraq. Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg reportedly isn't welcome at the White House. Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) reported Tuesday that Bush's staff had turned down a request from Stoltenberg's office for a meeting between the two at the White House. Bush, according to the report, was too busy to make room for Stoltenberg in the foreseeable future. NRK reported that Bush's...

While the glory days might have passed for Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin, all retiring over the past five years, including Smith who just called it quits at this year's past Super Bowl,...

THE LEADER POST REGINA SASKATCHEWAN. CANADA JUNE 9 2004 REAGAN WAS HIS HERO As America mourns Ronald Reagan this week, a Regina man reflects on his time in an elevator with the former president and the autograph collection that brief meeting spawned. Michael McCafferty stepped into a hotel elevator while attending a convention of young American Republicans in 1975. "There he was. I recognized him immediately," said McCafferty, even though Reagan was not yet president. Reagan had recently finished his term as governor of California and was scheduled to speak at the convention breakfast that morning. McCafferty eagerly introduced himself...

Breaking News! Well at least according to channel 8. Gloria Compost breathlessly announced that the Dallas Cowboys have finally officially named Fair Park their choice for building the new stadium and Jerry's World complex. Still no decision on financing, local state reps are looking into extending the car/hotel taxes to cover the Fair Park site(which may or may not be allowed under current convoluted law.) The timing may or may not be tied to the BCS debating this week about adding a 5th bowl to the mix, and any new stadium would put the Cotton Bowl in the running. IIRC,...

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- First lady Laura Bush plugged Republican U.S. Rep. Bob Riley's campaign for governor Thursday, saying he's a "staunch supporter of issues that matter to Alabama families," listing among them jobs and "excellent schools for every child." With the Nov. 5 general election nearing, Riley, voicing concerns about voter turnout, organized the rally with the first lady at a Mobile hotel when he learned that Mrs. Bush would be in the port city for a library fund-raiser Wednesday evening. "Bob Riley is a man of great character and commitment," Mrs. Bush told the breakfast crowd of several...
