A masked man entered a school in the south-western section of Sweden Thursday and unleashed an attack on a teacher with a sword. The teacher, not yet identified, was killed. The man, in his 20s, was shot shortly after by police and taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries. The Guardian reported four in all were hurt.

A transient is behind bars after police say he attempted to rob a couple with a sword on Sunday evening on the west end of Bozeman. Diamond Jade Brock Lorenz, 21, is being held in the Gallatin County jail on a felony charge of attempted robbery. He will appear in Gallatin County Justice Court on Tuesday morning to have his bail set. A Japanese man who stabbed to death eight school children in 2001 has been executed, domestic media have reported. Mamoru Takuma, 40, was executed by hanging, along with another convicted murderer who killed three gangsters. He killed seven girls and one boy, aged between six and eight, while another 13 students and two teachers were wounded. Takuma admitted the killings and is said to have shown little remorse, reportedly telling the court in June 2003 that he could have killed more children if he had attacked a kindergarten.
