  • So What If Russia Conquers Ukraine?

Let’s say Russia takes over Ukraine (one of the most corrupt countries in the world)… then what? As long as Russia doesn’t go on an ethnic cleansing rampage (doubtful given their common ethnic origins), and honors the mineral agreement with the USA, why should we care?

The Seventh-day Adventist Church has released the advance edition of its 2025 Annual Statistical Report, detailing 2024 membership reports. Published by the General Conference’s (GC) Office of Archives, Statistics, and Research, the report presents division-level data on baptisms, attendance, and overall membership. As of December 31, 2024, global church membership reached 23,684,237—an increase from 22,785,195 in 2023, representing a net gain of 899,042 members. The East-Central Africa Division reported the greatest increase with over 446,000 baptisms and professions of faith, pushing its membership to more than 5.7 million. The Southern Asia Division and Inter-American Division also posted strong numbers, with...

Now for a personal insight, one based on direct, long-term experiences: I have worked with many Eastern Europeans. I have worked closely with Russians, Ukrainians, Slovenians, Serbians and Estonians. I generally did not care for them because it seemed to me that 1) Everything was considered a financial transaction to them; everything was for sale - it was only a matter of price. 2) There seemed to be something missing from their souls/consciences. Perhaps 80 years of communism hollowed their collective consciousness.

Conservative pundit Meghan McCain says that Tuesday’s disappointing midterm election results for Republicans might have put the “final nail in the coffin” for former President Trump’s political career. In an op-ed published by the Daily Mail Wednesday, McCain, a former panelist on ABC’s daytime talk show “The View,” wrote that Republicans “are waking up this morning outraged and confused” because the GOP has so far failed to gain majority control of the House and Senate despite “the highest inflation rate in decades, crime that is “up everywhere” and President Biden’s low approval ratings.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Sunday expressed confidence that the public would support his 15-week federal abortion ban proposal but acknowledged it does not have the votes to pass the Senate. “I’m pro-life, even in an election year,” Graham told “Fox News Sunday” anchor Shannon Bream. “I am confident the American people would accept a national ban on abortion at 15 weeks,” Graham said. “And to those who suggest that being pro-life is losing politics, I reject that.” The South Carolina Republican on Tuesday introduced a bill that would prohibit abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy nationwide, carving out exceptions...

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Monday that if the House impeaches President Trump he will “have no choice” but to hold a trial in the Senate and a vote on removing the president from office. His comments in an interview with CNBC confirm the position he took in an interview with NPR in March, and the conclusion of a Senate staff memo that was obtained by HuffPost. “Under the Senate rules we’re required to take it up if the House does go down that path, and we’ll follow the Senate rules,” McConnell said Monday. “It’s a Senate rule related...

WASHINGTON — The 2020 electorate will be the most diverse yet, according to a report released Wednesday by the Pew Research Center. One-third of all eligible voters will be nonwhite — a new high — driven by younger voters aging into the electorate for the first time and older voters aging out. Immigration is also a factor, with 10 percent of potential voters expected to have been born abroad, up from 6 percent in 2000. For the first time, Hispanic voters are expected to be the largest nonwhite portion of the electorate at 13.3 percent, overtaking black voters who are...

LANSING, MI -- On a cold Michigan day and among hundreds of supporters, Gretchen Whitmer was sworn in and officially inaugurated as the state’s 49th governor. She struck a tone of bipartisanship, acknowledging legislative leaders from both parties and saying, “We owe it to the people we serve to cast partisanship aside, to roll up our sleeves, and to build bridges together.” Her campaign logo incorporated the Mackinac Bridge, and she drew on that as an example of a time Michiganders worked together to build something that connected people and strengthened the state’s economy.

U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford’s congressional farewell message is a nearly 4,000-word essay that warns of the growing political decay in the era of President Donald Trump. “I want to be clear and explicit that I am not likening Trump to Hitler, but the forces at play could lead to a future Hitler-like character if we don’t watch out,” he wrote in a Facebook posting Wednesday.

Allegations of collusion between Russia and Donald Trump’s election campaign were “invented” by Trump's opponents, Vladimir Putin said Thursday while praising the president's “serious achievements” in office. “All of this has been invented, made up by people who are in opposition to President Trump with a view to shedding a negative light on what [he] is doing,” the Russian leader said at his annual televised news conference, calling the allegations “very bizarre.” Those behind the claims are trying to “impede” Trump’s agenda and are damaging the U.S. political system by failing to respect voters who chose the president, he added.

When Charles Darwin introduced the theory of evolution through natural selection 143 years ago, the scientists of the day argued over it fiercely, but the massing evidence from paleontology, genetics, zoology, molecular biology and other fields gradually established evolution's truth beyond reasonable doubt. Today that battle has been won everywhere--except in the public imagination. Embarrassingly, in the 21st century, in the most scientifically advanced nation the world has ever known, creationists can still persuade politicians, judges and ordinary citizens that evolution is a flawed, poorly supported fantasy. They lobby for creationist ideas such as "intelligent design" to be taught as...

Meet the Obama-supporting Leftists Who Faked Hate Crimes at Oberlin College The Daily Caller has an incredible story today, revealing the truth behind the alleged spree of “hate crimes” that took place at Oberlin College earlier this year. Tuns out, the whole affair was an elaborate hoax, carried out by a pair of radical left-wing Democrats, who are outspoken supporters of president Obama. Chuck Ross reports for the DC: One of the two students removed from Oberlin College earlier this year for allegedly circulating virulently racist, anti-Jewish and anti-gay messages around campus is an ardent leftist and committed supporter of...

Many Police Officers Disenchanted with President Bush on Immigration By Jim Kouri (AXcess News) New York - During the last presidential campaign cycle, many national and local police organizations, as well as individual officers and commanders, supported the reelection of George W. Bush. Commanders and rank-and-file officers understood the fact that compared to the alternatives, Bush was the right man to serve as Commander-in-Chief in wartime. For instance, the nation's largest organization, National Fraternal Order of Police -- representing over 350,000 officers -- endorsed Bush, as did many local organizations such as the New York Police Department's Police Benevolent Association,...

Bush: Climate change is 'serious problem' US President George W. Bush said it was time to move past a debate over whether human activity is a significant factor behind global warming and into a discussion of possible remedies. "I have said consistently that global warming is a serious problem. There's a debate over whether it's manmade or naturally caused," Bush told reporters. "We ought to get beyond that debate and start implementing the technologies necessary to enable us to achieve a couple of big objectives: One, be good stewards of the environment; two, become less dependent on foreign sources...

WASHINGTON -- Michael Schiavo, who fought for years to remove his wife, Terri, from a feeding tube that kept her alive, has turned his anger about Congress's intervention into political action. Schiavo announced Wednesday that he has opened TerriPAC to strike back at politicians who tried to keep his brain-damaged wife alive through congressional legislation he termed a "sickening exercise in raw political power."
