The Washington State Patrol has issued a mea culpa letter that acknowledges the agency “clearly caused concern” among Evergreen State firearms dealers over a request that they provide names, addresses and other information about every AR-15 sale since last July 1. DENVER – The Colorado State Patrol has withdrawn the $22 jaywalking ticket issued to a good Samaritan who was seriously injured by a pickup after he pushed three people out of its path. Bus driver Jim Moffett of Denver and another man were helping two elderly women cross a busy Denver street in a snowstorm when he was hit Feb. 20. Moffett, 58, suffered bleeding in the brain, broken bones, a dislocated shoulder and a possible ruptured spleen. He remained hospitalized in serious condition Friday

The Nebraska Supreme Court has upheld a lower court’s ruling affirming the firing of a State Patrol trooper with ties to the Ku Klux Klan. Justice John Gerrard wrote in the majority opinion released Friday that Robert Henderson voluntarily associated with an organization that uses violence and terror to oppose the state’s founding principles of equality and tolerance. Henderson’s attorney, Vincent Valentino of Lincoln, said the high court erred in failing to recognize that his client’s association with a racist group never affected his job performance.
