Today the Silver Star Families of America has come out against, VA Secretary Robert Wilkie decision to ban all smoking at V.A. facilities.

Let's Remember our Wounded, ill and Injured Veterans on May 1st

The Silver Star Families of America, SSFOA, has one mission: to remember, honor and assist the wounded, ill, injured and dying of our Armed Forces from all wars.

I was talking with a gentleman the other day who had put in over 25 years in the Army. He had scars on his arms and face from battles too numerous to mention. He had been shot, blown up, laughed at, sneered at and suffered PTS. He had not one regret.

The recent revelations that have come to light about the Pentagons “dysfunctional” efforts to recover our MIA’s have already drawn the ire of the Silver Star Families of America. (The SSFOA) National President Steve Newton issued a blistering statement: “The United States of America has a moral obligation to never voluntarily leave anyone behind. Over 80,000 service members are listed as missing, from World War II, Korea and Vietnam and to let the recovery program fall into such disarray is a national scandal and disgrace.”

Folks I am very excited. The Silver Star Families of America, born right here on FR, is in the Huffington Post today as one of America;s best non profits.

I though everyone would be interested in this. It is amazing to me the utter unresponsiveness of the government. We have only gotten one reply to our inquires and that is from his representative in Miami. Nothing from State, nothing from the White House. Frustrating beyond belief.

CLEVER, MO—July 6, 2012—The Silver Star Families of America (SSFOA) proudly announces the 2012 recipient of the prestigious SSFOA Commendation Award—actor and musician Gary Sinise.

For many of us older veterans, we have prayed that returning veterans would never again be stigmatized and shunned as those returning from Vietnam where. In fact many of us have said, “Never again,” and that we would never allow it to happen.

I hope this is not an improper request. But since the Silver Star Families of America was practically born on FR I wanted to make a request for donations. We have had so many requests for our food coupon books to give to homeless vets that go to V.A. Medical Centers that we have run out of funds. Also our Chaplain run Prayer Blankets for our Hospice vets program is in the red.
