Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo overestimated his value to NYC when during a speech to elderly voters he threatened to move to Florida if he loses the mayoral election. "I have spent my adult life in public service to New York," he said. "I feel you owe me your vote. I'm the only one who can defeat the corrupt socialist who polls show will win if I don't. If you screw me over by voting for someone else, I'll return the favor by permanently relocating to Miami." After hearing Cuomo's speech, a Jewish voter from Brooklyn turned to his...

It’s close, but Muslims in New York may now outnumber Jews. It’s a demographic race with political implications. Analysts trying to understand why Canada, Britain, and France are moving to recognize a Palestinian state have pointed to demographic shifts and growing Muslim populations in those countries. The Canadian government reported this year that “the proportion of Canada’s population who reported being Muslim has more than doubled in 20 years,” to “4.9% (1,775,715 people) in 2021” from “2.0% (579,640 people) in 2001.” In Britain, the census reported that the Muslim population in England and Wales had soared to “3.9 million, 6.5%...

Anyone who has spent time around New York City has probably run into Republican mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa. A tall, tough hombre with his trademark red beret, he probably knows every crack, crevice, and crack house in the city. Heck, he's probably on a first-name basis with half the city's cats, given the dozens of adoptees he has in his apartment. From his career slinging hamburgers in an all-night fast food restaurant in the bad old days of the Bronx-is-burning to his 24/7 radio career, he is the man who never sleeps in the city that never sleeps. His knowledge...

Republican mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa angrily quit his radio gig at 77 WABC on Wednesday in a fiery on-air showdown after its owner and one of the station’s most recognizable hosts called on him to drop out of the race. He raged on the station’s airwaves “you will never see me at the studios of WABC again” as he accused colleagues of betraying him and complained to host Sid Rosenberg that the station was giving preferable treatment to independent candidate, former Gov. Andrew Cuomo. “Let me just say Sid, I am directing my comments to everybody at WABC,” Sliwa told...

President Trump again weighed in on the New York City mayoral race Tuesday, giving a brutal prognosis of Republican Curtis Sliwa’s election chances and declaring he’d rather see a Democrat than a “Communist” in charge at City Hall. “If [Sliwa] dropped out, he’s not going to win — and not looking too good for Cuomo either,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, referring to Republican nominee Sliwa and former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat who is running as an independent. “But maybe, I don’t know, if he dropped out, maybe Cuomo would have a little bit of a chance,...

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he believes New York City could soon elect a "communist" mayor and signaled he’d prefer a Democrat to take the reins at City Hall over a far-left candidate. Asked during a White House press gaggle whether he’d urge Republican Curtis Sliwa to drop out of the race, Trump didn’t endorse anyone, but made clear his concern about current polling with just two weeks to go until Election Day. "Well, I looked at the polls and looks like we're going to have a communist as the mayor of New York," Trump said. "It'll be very...

Rudy Giuliani endorsed fellow Republican Curtis Sliwa for mayor Monday night, dealing a blow to independent Andrew Cuomo as he tries to build crossover appeal to take out front-runner Zohran Mamdani. “Here’s my choice: 100 percent Curtis Sliwa,” Giuliani, 81, said on his X podcast while Sliwa appeared on the show. Giuliani said Cuomo “ran a terrible campaign” in the Democratic primary and “lost to a 33-year-old,” referring to Mamdani, the Queens assemblyman. “Giuliani said he’s gotten immense pressure — even from Republicans and some of his associates and friends — to endorse Cuomo over Sliwa in a bid to...

If the pundits and politicians are right, New York City Mayor Eric Adams’s agonized and belated departure from the November 4 general election is unlikely to realign the now three-way contest that favors the avowed socialist and Islamic candidate Zohran Mamdani. Adams’s farewell message was “I urge New Yorkers to choose our leaders not by what they promise but by what they have delivered.” When Adams finally acceded to political reality on Sunday, polls showed him at 7-10%, Mamdani at 40-45%, former Governor Andrew Cuomo at 25-30% and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa at 15-18%. It’s apparent to most that, no...

New York City politics has rarely offered voters a clean choice. This year, with Eric Adams out of the mayor’s race, the city faces one of its grimmest dilemmas yet: Andrew Cuomo or Zohran Mamdani. Let’s be clear – this is not an endorsement of Cuomo. The former governor has baggage that most voters can recite from memory. But politics isn’t about picking saints; it’s about survival. And when survival is on the line, sometimes the only responsible thing to do is choose the lesser of two evils. Cuomo may be corrupt, arrogant and heavy-handed. But at least he governs...

Will Curtis Sliwa have any regrets if he wakes up on November 5 and Zohran Mamdani is the new mayor of New York — knowing he could have stepped aside and cleared the crowded campaign field that many fear will split the vote? “Nope,” the Republican candidate told me. So he’s not willing to sacrifice his candidacy to save the city he loves from socialism? “That’s based on the idea that everyone is going to go over and vote Cuomo. Ain’t happening. They hate Cuomo. I’m in the streets every day. All I hear is ‘slapping fannies and killing grannies.’...

Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) threatened he would “move to Florida” if socialist New York City (NYC) mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani wins the election. During a Hamptons breakfast on Saturday, Cuomo, who is running as an independent in NYC’s mayoral race, expressed that it was “all or nothing” in the NYC mayoral race, according to the New York Post. The breakfast was hosted at 75 Main, in Southampton. “It’s all or nothing,” Cuomo stated. “We either win or even I will move to Florida. God forbid!” During the event, Cuomo “took plenty of shots at Mamdani’s pie-in-the-sky proposals...

A fireball from a parked RV sparked a fire that tore through an iconic Queens diner from the movie “Goodfellas” – and now one mayoral candidate is calling for a camper crackdown. The fire erupted at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at GoodFellas Diner in Maspeth with 60 firefighters eventually arriving to put out the flames, according to the FDNY. The blaze came seven years after the same diner caught fire. Two civilians were evaluated on the scene and refused medical attention, the department said.

Mayor Eric Adams and Curtis Sliwa got especially nasty over the migrant crisis Tuesday — with Hizzoner blasting the Guardian Angel as a “buffoon’’ and his foe deriding him as “The Swaggerman with No Plan.’’ “Any time you start out a question with the name ‘Curtis Sliwa’ — that in itself states it would be a disservice to me and other New Yorkers to even respond,” Adams snarked when asked about Sliwa’s calls to house migrants on the grounds at Gracie Mansion. “If you look in the dictionary for the word ‘buffoon,’ tell me what picture comes up,” snapped the...

The Guardian Angels pounced on a subway rider who was assaulting an elderly woman in the Bronx on Saturday, according to Curtis Sliwa, the group’s founder. The incident happened about noon on a D train at 167th Street, when three Guardian Angels saw a man and woman yelling at the elderly straphanger, Sliwa said. “The man reaches out and smacks her multiple times,” he said. “The Guardian Angels, three of them, jump the guy.” NYPD officers, who were at the station, arrested the man, but he was released on a desk appearance ticket, Sliwa said. The same trio of Guardian...
