Rush's sign off was chilling. He could barely get out his sentiments. That final "Thank you" was hard to listen to. All I can say is, "You're welcome, Rush."

President Barack Obama approved of Iran’s right to operate a nuclear program in 2011 during secret meetings with Iranian officials, according to new disclosures by Iran’s Supreme Leader. The comments, made earlier this year by Ali Khamenei, dispute claims by the Obama administration that it only began talking to Iran after the election of President Hassan Rouhani. Khamenei revealed in a recent speech that talks began in secret with anti-Semitic, Holocaust denying former President Mahmoud Ahmadenejad. At this time, Obama told the Iranians he endorses Iran’s right to have a nuclear program. “The issue of negotiating with the Americans is...

Nowadays, thanks to the internet, cable, and satellite media, there is programming literally around the clock, at least in today's United States. There is never a time when you could turn on your state of the art, flat wall screen tv, press all the button combinations, only to find "nothing is on". This seems to be what the public wants, a never ending access to shows, movies, youtubes and music. It is nice to have but a short road to almost any type of production, at almost anytime. Of course, all depends on a reliable electrical grid to keep everybody...

One of the questions everyone asks a new anchor is, "What's your sign off going to be?" Walter Cronkite had the most famous nightly farewell, "And that's the way it is." Edward R. Murrow used, "Good night and good luck." Well, it's a new era here at The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric and Katie thinks maybe you folks on the other side of the screen might have some good ideas for what her own sign-off should be. If nothing else, it will be a lot of fun reading your ideas and, who knows, maybe one will actually stick.

Dan Rather's sign-off at the end of the March 9 CBS Evening News, as corrected against the closed captioning by the MRC's Brad Wilmouth: "We've shared a lot in the 24 years we've been meeting here each evening. And before I say good night this night, I need to say thank you. Thank you to the thousands of wonderful professionals of CBS News, past and present, with whom it's been my honor to work over these years. And a deeply felt thanks to all of you who have let us into your homes night after night. It has been a...
  • Bring back TV station signoffs (and the National anthem redndition with them!!!) (my title)

Looking at these signoff videos, and seeing how patriotism is fading, I think it'd be a good idea to bring the National Anthem back to TV. I know it's hard with 24-hour programming... ...but in Colombia, programming is briefly interrupted at 6:00 am and 6:00 pm to broadcast the National Anthem. Pay special attention to WKFT's, WCSC's, WECT's, WCCB's and WRAL's. Those are awesome renditions of the Star-Spangled Banner.
