Shake Shack plans to close multiple "underperforming" restaurants in several U.S. states, according to a document filed to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday (August 27). The popular chain plans to close nine stores located in California, Ohio and Texas, however, no other stores are expected to be affected and the plan won't impact expansion in the three states, according to the filing. All Shake Shack management affected by the closures will be offered positions at neighboring locations and hourly employees will be eligible for rehire. Six of the nine Shake Shacks scheduled to close are in California...

What The Shack gets right by Lita Cosner Published: 7 March 2017 (GMT+10) It would be easy to write a standard, outraged review of The Shack. They portray God the Father and God the Spirit in human form, as females! They put words in God’s mouth that He never said! They substitute correct doctrine for mushy platitudes that sound like they came from Oprah! All those things are true, and they’re all problems, and those problems have been very thoroughly laid out elsewhere in reviews of William Paul Young’s best-selling 2008 book of the same title, so go there and...

Is The Shack a harmless work of Christian fiction—or a classic example of false teaching? When William P. Young's book The Shack first hit shelves 10 years ago, many pastors and church leaders praised it as a powerful story of redemption. More than 18 million copies have sold since, and The Shack movie is set to release this weekend. After taking a close look at the book in 2008, Dr. Michael Youssef was concerned that it might lead undiscerning leaders astray—so he devoted an entire sermon to addressing the book's theology. As a ministry dedicated to passionately proclaiming the Truth...

The book The Shack has sold over 25 million copies worldwide and has been translated into numerous languages, so it’s not a surprise that Hollywood has decided to cash in on its popularity with a blockbuster movie. While the book is marketed as a “Christian novel” and the movie is marketed to Christians, it simply isn’t based on Biblical Christianity. In fact, it’s full of heresy. The number of Christians who are singing its praises is evidence of the lack of discernment prevalent in American Evangelicalism. What’s even more concerning is that many Christian pastors and teachers are endorsing the...

In spite of the original date, this was an excerpt on The Aquila Report today, assuming because it is about to be released as a movie. _______________________________________________ The publishing world sees very few books reach blockbuster status, but William Paul Young’s The Shack has now exceeded even that. The book, originally self-published by Young and two friends, has now sold more than 10 million copies and has been translated into over thirty languages. It is now one of the best-selling paperback books of all time, and its readers are enthusiastic. According to Young, the book was originally written for his...

Struggling retailer RadioShack Corp reported a wider quarterly loss on Tuesday and said it will close up to 1,100 U.S. stores after a huge drop in sales over the holidays, sending the stock down more than 15 percent. Sales at the Fort Worth, Texas-based chain have been in free fall amid executive departures, tough competition and an image problem. Despite its ubiquitous presence in the United States, analysts say it has not done enough to transform itself into a destination for mobile phone shoppers or become hip enough to woo younger shoppers. Its net loss widened to $191.4 million, or...

Shocker! "Burning Down 'The Shack,'" [is] a hard-hitting, no-holds-barred biblical critique of the book by someone who knew author Paul Young well and understands what's behind its strange theology. "It's often said that one can understand a book better by knowing the author," James De Young offers in "Burning Down 'The Shack,'" which he wrote to "expose the greatest deception to blindside the church in the last 200 years!" De Young isn't only a New Testament language and literature professor at Western Seminary in Portland, Ore., he holds multiple degrees from respected seminaries including Dallas Seminary, Talbot Theological Seminary and...

Chuck Colson Stay Out of ‘The Shack’ May 8th, 2008 by Charles Colson When the prophet Isaiah and the apostle John caught glimpses of God, they were overcome with despair at their own unworthiness in the light of His glory. The same could be said of Daniel or Paul, or any number of figures from Scripture. But when the protagonist of a new book called The Shack is introduced to the Father of heaven, he is greeted by a “large, beaming, African-American woman” who goes by the name of Papa.If you have not heard about The Shack, there is a good...

[snip] Prof. John Stackhouse, a prominent evangelical scholar at Regent College in Vancouver, recently engaged [William Paul] Young in a B.C. session. Theologically, Stackhouse said he's mostly pleased with The Shack. Like "Brother Young" (as he calls him), Stackhouse tends to believe God's salvation extends "beyond the range of those who have heard the Christian gospel, understood it and accepted it as true." But Stackhouse also criticized The Shack. Most of his complaints had to do with the novel's denunciations of "institutional" Christianity, as well as seminaries, ritual and hierarchy. While Young deserves respect for expressing how he felt betrayed...

Over the last few months I've been hearing more and more about a book titled The Shack by William Young, who goes by his middle name, Paul. Some, like my mother, are profoundly disturbed by the content of this book. Others are saying that it is the best book they have ever read. In fact Eugene Peterson says "This book has the potential to do for our generation what John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress did for his. It's that good." Here is the link to his article Equip.orgHere is a link to another site at Crossroads that also takes "The Shack"...

“Well, I’ve got to decrease as a person and disappear and then thereby Jesus can become everything”…No…God only needs one Jesus; He’s got one Son …He doesn’t need a billion of them, and He wants to manifest the life of that Son by the power of the Spirit in the lives of individual unique human beings and all of a sudden our lives become absolutely meaningful because of the Presence.

Slowdown in residential building and home sales will be felt throughout the economy; weaker jobs and consumer spending expectedNEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - You don't need to be in the market to buy or sell a home to be affected by the cooling housing market. [Everybody studies home sales] * * * because the sector has lifted * * * consumer spending and economic activity. This week has brought several new readings indicating that the super-heated real estate market of 2004 and 2005 is rapidly fading in the rearview mirror. Housing starts and building permits were down sharply in April, and...

January 5, 2005 | Recently Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chávez gave Aljazeera TV an interview in which he openly disclosed his plans to lead a global "offensive war" against U.S. "colonialism and imperialism." The interview was one of those prepared events in which the questions are carefully designed to invite the answers. Not journalism but impudent advertisement. The presenter, Mr. Faysal Al-Quaim, starts by telling Chávez that he is so popular in the Arab world that, if he ran in an Arab presidential election he would "win by more than 90% of the votes" and hastened to add: "I mean a...
