This is rather unusual. One would think a governor would be aware that seven blocks in his largest city have been taken over by armed occupiers who have formed an encampment called the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone. However, when questioned about it, an apparently clueless Washington State Governor jay Inslee says “that’s news to me.” Note Inslee is not alone in being, well, a little odd. Apparently the bouncy sign language interpreter needs to go pee. WATCH....

In the scientific community, there is still a great deal of energy devoted to “listening†for evidence or hints of intelligent, extraterrestrial civilizations out among the stars. Most of you are probably familiar with the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) and their decades of work in this field. They’re still at it and, in fact, are upping their game with a new generation of laser sensors. These projects drew fresh attention after the discovery of Tabby’s Star and the frantic speculation over whether or not some ancient civilization had built a Dyson Sphere around their own sun. This has led...

Impeachment proceedings haven’t diminished white evangelical support for President Donald Trump. Most white evangelicals say Trump’s personal conduct makes no difference in, or increases, their support for him, a new poll shows. The Public Religion Research Institute released its 10th annual American Values Survey — the organization’s flagship research report — on Monday at a rollout event held at the progressive-leaning policy think tank Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. The data is based on interviews with 2,527 Americans taken in two different waves conducted between the end of August and mid-October to take into account the announcement of a House impeachment...

It’s not every day that anti-war groups find themselves cheering on leading Republican presidential candidates. But, then again, this hasn’t been a presidential campaign that’s stuck to the script. The morning after he called the Iraq War a huge misstep and argued that President George W. Bush lied to get the country into it, Donald Trump has earned praise from, of all places, Code Pink, the group best known for protesting the Iraq War and subsequent military interventions. “I watched the debate last night and LOVED IT,†Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin said in an email.

A death row inmate in Texas tore out his eyeball with his fingers and ate it, leaving him blind after he gouged out his other eye several years ago, the state's department of criminal justice said on Friday. Andre Thomas, 25, was now in a secure psychiatric facility after he pulled out his left eye last month at the death row unit in Livingston in eastern Texas, Clark said. Thomas was condemned for killing...

Rep. Frank asks to bring beau on House floorBy Betsy Rothstein Posted: 12/16/08 06:48 PM [ET] Even if House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.) had access to spousal privileges, he would not be allowed to bring the man known as his boyfriend, Jim Ready, 39, a surfing enthusiast, to the House floor. Last week Frank approached the Speaker’s Lobby with Ready, who was spotted wearing a green blazer and the traditional congressional spouse pin, and asked to bring him into the Chamber. He was told no. The rules are that no spouse or life partner — gay, straight,...

We've learned of a judge in Melbourne, Australia who has issued a ruling that has stunning repercussions: a 12-yr-old girl can undergo a sex change despite the objections of her father. According to the Daily Mail, the girl cannot be named in the press because of her age yet her age, at least to the courts, doesn't preclude her from the ability to begin to undergo hormone treatments, the first stage of an eventual sex-change. A relative of the girl claims the mother has been after the girl to become a boy after a bitter divorce from the girl's father....
