Republican National Committee ^ | June 30, 2004

Posted on 06/30/2004 5:38:00 PM PDT by RWR8189

IRAQI PRIME MINISTER IYAD ALLAWI: "I believe very strongly that Saddam had relations with al Qaeda. We know Saddam had relationships with a lot of terrorists and international terrorism. Now, whether he is directly connected to the September atrocities or not, I can't vouch for this, but definitely I know he has connections with extremism and terrorists."

What shade of crimson did Tom Brokaw turn when he heard that?

For those who didn't see the Brokaw/Allawi interview, here's a screen-snap as Allawi was speaking:

The left will say: Big deal, so Bush and Cheney and Halliburton's puppet is saying what they want him to say.

Who wiped up Brokow's green weenies when Allawi said that?

Clinton: "I am only gonna say this once. Saddam did not have sexual relations with that terrorist group, Al Qeada."

Brokow humiliated himself again, but I wonder if he's capable of understanding that. Watch how Brokaw sets himself up to be taken down by a self-confident and assertive Allawi.

The exchange went like this:

Allawi: We know that this is an extension to what has happened in New York. And — the war have been taken out to Iraq by the same terrorists. Saddam was a potential friend and partner and natural ally of terrorism.

Brokaw: Prime minister, I’m surprised that you would make the connection between 9/11 and the war in Iraq. The 9/11 commission in America says there is no evidence of a collaborative relationship between Saddam Hussein and those terrorists of al-Qaida.

Allawi: No. I believe very strongly that Saddam had relations with al-Qaida. And these relations started in Sudan. We know Saddam had relationships with a lot of terrorists and international terrorism. Now, whether he is directly connected to the September — atrocities or not, I can’t — vouch for this. But definitely I know he has connections with extremism and terrorists.

Looks to me like Prime Minister Allawi and the 9/11 commission concur.

But the first story on the NBC list - "The Fed raises interest rates making it more costly to borrow money", with a tone in his voice like this is terrible news.

They just don't get it - If you haven't taken advantage of the lower interest rates it may not be great news for you, but the Fed tweeking it up a little is a sign that they have faith the economy is going in the right direction for some time to come.

Brokaw is a phony. I used to have a little respect for him and thought that, of the three network anchors, he was the most objective, plus he has tremendous respect for our WWII veterans.

This interview needs to be replayed as much as possible to show Brokaw's unapologetic arrogance. It appears he has a permanent just-bit-into-a-lemon look on his face now. Maybe he's reading W's rising poll numbers.

The media appears to have been wrong footed by the transition.
Brokaw got his A$$ handed to him.
I've noticed a real confusion in the media coverage since the hand off, they seem unsure of what the new angle is (since they obviously can't report positive news).

Indeed. Or, as I daresay Saddam himself will be saying shortly:
