No place is this more clear than with the doctrine of the Pretribulation Rapture which is a core teaching of most mainstream denominations in the West today. The rapture doctrine is very popular because, well . . . it sells very well to Western culture. To exaggerate just a little bit, it goes like this . . . God loves you, He is pleased with everything you do, and in fact He is so concerned with your circumstances and comfort He is going to beam you out of here before any of the bad stuff happens. I can not tell...
  • Fall into the 'Gap' ... Dispensational style

    12/03/2011 2:52:32 PM PST · by Iggles Phan · 42 replies
Last week we explored Dispensationalism's reversal of Daniel's 70th Week from Jesus Christ to the Devil. I think many on this chat page were astonished by this exposition. Today, we will explore how Dispensationalism took this lie and formed another: the Parenthesis Gap Theory. This 'gap' was 'unknown and unforeseen' to Christianity until Darby and Scofield 'uncovered' it in the 19th century. But is it really there? Let's read carefully: 24: Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity,...
  • Why I do not believe in the 'Rapture'

    11/26/2011 3:33:54 PM PST · by Iggles Phan · 631 replies
My problem with the 'Rapture' (pre-millenial; pre-tribulation) teaching is that it forces its adherents to actually REVERSE the Person of Jesus Christ to the Devil. That's correct. In the 'Rapture' (or Dispensational) scheme the believer is asked to take the Person of Daniel's 70th Week (Who is Jesus Christ at the Cross) described in Chapter 9, verse 27a: "And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, ..." ... and reverse this 'he' to mean a 'future Antichrist'. Are you confused?...
  • Who, then, should be classed as dispensationalists?

"What men, then, according to these definitions, should be classed as dispensationalists? The answer to this question might be stated in a variety of ways. Three of these may suffice: (1) Any person is a dispensationalist who trusts the blood of Christ rather than bringing an animal sacrifice. (2) Any person is a dispensationalist who disclaims any right or title to the land which God covenanted to Israel for an everlasting inheritance. And (3) any person is a dispensationalist who observes the first day of the week rather than the seventh. To all this it would be replied that every...
  • Creeping Catholicism in Scofield's Notes?

    09/12/2006 8:43:17 PM PDT · by Teófilo · 40 replies · 502+ views
Cyrus Scofield thought that "Jesus' brethren" were not Mary the Virgin's children, but her nieces and nephews. That's exactly what the Catholic Church teaches. Folks, this Scofield note has always caught my attention:Six Marys are to be distinguished in the N.T.: (1) the mother of Jesus; by the context. (2) Mary Magdaalways clearly identified lene, a woman of Magdala, " out of whom went seven demons" Luke 8:2 She is never mentioned apart from the identifying word "Magdalene." (3) The mother of James (called "the less," Mark 15:40) and Joses, the apostles. A comparison of ; John 19:25; Matthew 27:56;...

Bureaucrat soldier of fortune A staffer on the House Appropriations Committee publicly proposed Wednesday that he and his colleagues become eligible for the 4.1 percent pay increase that President Bush has requested for the military. Such policy recommendations are usually reserved for elected members of Congress. John Scofield, the powerful committee's spokesman, told The Hill newspaper: ''Congressional staff who are crafting legislation, whether it is a defense supplemental or a crime bill, are just as important as someone who is serving on the front line.'' Scofield's $72,500 annual salary is more than double the pay and fringe benefits of an...
