Democrats passed a massive budget bill late Wednesday night. The bill narrowly passed by a 212-206 vote. “A widely backed food safety bill is hitching a ride on the legislation. The measure passed the Senate by a 73-25 vote last week but got caught in a snag because it contained revenue provisions that, under the Constitution, must originate in the House.” Yahoo News That’s right, S.510 has apparently HITCHED a ride on the budget bill that was passed during a late night session. Our food freedom has possibly been destroyed by the lame duck congress and their big agriculture masters....

WASHINGTON -- Food safety legislation stalled by a constitutional snag could be revived as part of a giant year-end budget bill. The bill to increase the Food and Drug Administration's powers to keep food safe stalled after overwhelmingly passing the Senate last week. House Democrats said after it passed that the bill contains fees that are considered tax provisions, which under the Constitution must originate in the House.

There may soon be a stealth attempt to attach the stalled so-called "food safety" bill (S. 510) to a House bill in the last days of this Congress. As this 240-page bill passed in the U. S. House (73-25), U.S. Senator Tom Coburn said the bill will raise food prices, add $1.5 billion to the deficit, and add unfunded state mandates [costs]. Many news reports say S. 510 will put farming and all food production under government control -- under the guise of protecting health and safety. The word "Secretary" is found on 206 pages. The word "health" is found...
  • Michael Taylor: Monsanto's Man in the Obama Administration - August 2009

Michael R. Taylor's appointment by the Obama administration to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on July 7th sparked immediate debate and even outrage among many food and agriculture researchers, NGOs and activists. The Vice President for Public Policy at Monsanto Corp. from 1998 until 2001, Taylor exemplifies the revolving door between the food industry and the government agencies that regulate it. He is reviled for shaping and implementing the government's favorable agricultural biotechnology policies during the Clinton administration.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has presided over the Senate for the past four years and we’ve just learned today that his current Lame Duck session is “RIGGED.” Color me surprised! A hot mic picked up Senator Michael Bennet’s words… “It’s all rigged. The whole conversation is rigged. The fact that we don’t get to a discussion before the break about what we’re going to do in the lame duck. It’s just rigged.” Welcome to our world Senator Bennet. We’ve known for quite a while that our government apparatus is rigged. Take for example, the Food Safety Bill which...

Senate action on legislation revamping the nation's food safety laws will be delayed until Tuesday morning. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., announced Monday afternoon that two amendments (Coburn earmark ban, Coburn substitute that pays for food safety --- neither of which are expected to get the 67 votes needed for passage) and final passage of the food safety legislation will start at 9:00 am Tuesday. The final bill is expected to pass. The House still must vote on the bill as well but is expected to pass without much difficulty

  • Senate Delays S 510 Food safety Bill Vote Until Tuesday

(NaturalNews) Slammed by a barrage of phone calls and emails today that the mainstream media isn't even reporting, the U.S. Senate today has decided to postpone their vote on S.510 -- the Food Safety Modernization Act -- until Tuesday morning. Internet reports that S.510 has already passed are incorrect. The final bill has not yet been voted on (only a motion to move forward was voted on). The Tester Amendment has been passed (see below for more details) which would exclude the smaller farm operations from the more onerous provisions of the bill.

Beck and others are telling you - TODAY at 7pm Senate is scheduled to vote. If passed, the misnamed Food Safety and Modernization Act would authorize the FDA to tell farmers how to grow their crops. Federal bureaucrats who likely know little to nothing about farming will set the guidelines on appropriate temperatures, what soil to use, how much water to use and what animals are allowed to be on certain fields. S. 510, the Food Safety Modernization Act, gives broad powers to the FDA to regulate small farms and gardens.

Food Safety Modernization Act of 2010 Senate Bill 510, that is set to come up for a vote this weekend is being called by some as the most dangerous bill in the history of the US. Essentially it is to our food what the bailouts were to the economy, the only difference being we can live without money. “If accepted [S 510] would preclude the public’s right to grow, own, trade, transport, share, feed and eat each and every food that nature makes. It will become the most offensive authority against the cultivation, trade and consumption of food and agricultural...

Senate Bill 510, the Food Safety Modernization Act, has been called "the most dangerous bill in the history of the United States of America." It would grant the U.S. government new authority over the public's right to grow, trade and transport any foods. This would give Big brother the power to regulate the tomato plants in your backyard. It would grant them the power to arrest and imprison people selling cucumbers at farmer's markets. It would criminalize the transporting of organic produce if you don't comply with the authoritarian rules of the federal government. Continue:

We are glad to see some push-back against SB-510 in the U. S. Senate, last week, but there needs to be much more, now. Last Wednesday's cloture vote passed, 74 to 25. This shows us how much work we have before us, to winnow out Congress, especially achieving the achievable, by cleansing the ranks of the GOP in Congress. Here are the Republican senators who issued "Yes" votes, for debate and final vote on this bill, from Thomas Lifson, chief editor of American Thinker: Alexander (R-TN) Barrasso (R-WY) Collins (R-ME) Corker (R-TN) Enzi (R-WY) Grassley (R-IA) Gregg (R-NH) Johanns (R-NE)...

The Food Safety Bill s510, considered both influential and controversial, was just passed in the Senate. This comes almost a year and a half after the House passed a bill calling to tighten the nation’s food safety rules. It will be the first time in 70 years that the FDA’s food safety system will be modernized. The bill will permit the FDA to increase inspections of food producers, track fruit and vegetable shipments and place stricter manufacturing standards to attempt to avoid outbreaks of contamination. Some highly respected health experts are in fact on both sides of the debate—Michael Pollan...
