Wisdom from Dietrich von Hildebrand Back in 1973 von Hildebrand called the bishops' dereliction of their duties to be "one of the most horrifying and widespread diseases of the Church today." Of course he had seen the outright rebellion to Humanae Vitae and the Land O' Lakes rebellion staged by Catholic colleges.
