A police officer shot a 16-year-old boy when he refused to drop the broomstick he was holding in Salt Lake City last night. The officer was responding to an unrelated call in the Utah capital at 8.15pm when his team spotted two teenagers arguing with a man, according to the Salt Lake Tribune. Surrounding them, police allegedly told the boy to drop what he was holding - part of a broomstick. When he did not, 'shots were fired'. The boy was hit in the chest and the stomach.

California state prison inmate and four-time convicted murderer has been formally charged with the strangulation murder of his wife during a conjugal visit, the Amador County District Attorney's Office told KCRA 3 on Friday. David Brinson, 54, is serving four consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole for four counts of murder with enhancements for the use of a firearm, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. A Florida sex offender was arrested after he allegedly tried to “purchase” an 8-year-old girl for $100,000 at a grocery store, police said. Hellmuth Kolb, 85, approached the child’s mom at a Winn Dixie in Port Orange Thursday and made the indecent proposal, according to the Port Orange Police Department. (WBFF) - A man who was breaking into a car in the Halethorpe/Lansdowne area Sunday morning was found dead after a witness tried to "hold" him until police responded, said Baltimore County police.
