A father was deported to Mexico last month after living in the U.S. for over 30 years, leaving his six children without their only parent, his lawyer said.
According to Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, Rosalio Vasquez Meave was arrested on September 15. His lawyer, Michelle Edstrom, said he was dropping off his children at school when an ICE vehicle pulled him over and detained him.

Vasquez Meave first came to the U.S. as a teenager in 1990, said Edstrom (his lawyer). He left US in 1999, believing he was applying for a work visa through an office in Ciudad Juárez, but he was arrested in 2000 when he attempted to enter with those documents.
"Meave was previously removed to Mexico in 2000. He chose to commit a felony and illegally re-enter the U.S. at an unknown date and location," said McLaughlin. According to Edstrom, Vasquez Meave had remained in the U.S. Since 2000.
30 years of receiving welfare? Section 8 housing? Medicare? SNAP? Student meals?
1990 illegally entered the USA.
Left the USA in 1999 by his own choosing.
2000 attempted to enter the USA illegally was apprehended and deported.
This was a felony.
In 2023, Vasquez Meave had applied for a visa under the Violence Against Women Act, which also applies to men and parents of American children who have been subjected to neglect or abandonment, said Edstrom.
(The 2000 attempted to enter the USA illegally was a felony there by disqualifying him from any further attempts at gaining legal status.)
September 15, 2025 arrested again, status and documentation checked, was offered to option of taking his children with him which HE declined and was deported.
Just another Criminal Illegal Alien stealing money from US tax payers. How much, he was here for 30 year with six spawn.
Thousands? Hundreds of thousands ,...Millions?
Sounds like he had ample time to become a US citizen.
The children were not left without a parent or caretaker, They just need to go with him. Problem Solved.
OUT! GET OUT!
He should take his wife and spawn with him.
He should have to repay any “assistance” he and his family sponged for 30 years.
Cry me a river.
They should issue the kids free passports and welcome them back when they are 18. I mean, we are not barbarians.
Twenty years ago I would have said “let him stay.”
After abuse by tens of millions of illegal immigrants - and the entire democrat party and half the republican party - I say enough is enough.
Enforce the law.
Zackly.
34 years to do something but all he did was have kids ,D’oh
It’s a poorly written article, but the wife/mother isn’t in the picture. She was apparently abusive or abandoned them, and he sought some protection against her.
Sounds like he had wasted ample time to become a US citizen.
He’s codt us MILLIONS......and he sure doesn’t like his kids very much, or he would have taken them with him. DO THEY EXIST?
AMEN!
GOOD. And the problem is???
How many dads have been killed by illegal aliens? Why doesn’t the media talk about THEM?
Of course they exist! During his days, he leaves them at his local Learing Center.
“It’s a poorly written article, but the wife/mother isn’t in the picture. “
It’s probably multiple women involved and for all we know the kids are with them.
Just another sob story fabricated by a lawyer.
sounded like a good parent
until decision not to take them with him
were they just checks?
are there relatives or are they in foster?
We are left to wonder about the ages of his children, and if they too are criminals.
Agreed.
Though, I would say more than half of the republicans. Like 75% of the GOP.
Send them to be reunified with Dad!
I don’t know. All I have to go on for now is the article.
