Scout Snipers have a mantra. I learned that mantra years ago when I was assigned to lead a platoon of these Marines. My chief scout in the platoon, a title held by the most experienced Scout Sniper, was Damon. When we met in 2012 on Camp Lejeune, Damon was in his late twenties. His guys were at-home in the woods and with a load on their backs; they rarely complained about being dirty, tired or uncomfortable. I learned quickly that Scout Snipers were the best in the battalion, regular infantrymen who had started out carrying an assault rifle or lobbing...

This is definitely the most requested video I have had. Rightfully so because the history of Reconnaissance and Marine Raiders are so intertwined it can leave someone feeling a bit confused, I have your back. Not only does this video give you my military history, it also gives you the history of Marine Recon and Marine Raiders (MARSOC), the requirements to get into both units, and also some very sound advice from other Recon and Raider Operators. So get some popcorn, grab a notepad, and put your feet up. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/nBOrclf6rwA

In recent years, Hezbollah has stepped up its activities beyond Lebanon’s borders. This uptick has been clearest in the Middle East—in Iraq, Yemen, and especially Syria—but plots have also been thwarted in South America, Asia, Europe, and now, possibly, the United States. Reports of Hezbollah activity in North America are not new, though such reporting tends to focus on the group’s fundraising, money laundering, procurement, or other logistical activities from Vancouver to Miami. But last month, the criminal prosecution and conviction in New York of the Hezbollah operative Ali Kourani revealed disturbing new information about the extent of Hezbollah’s operations...

French defense contractor Nexter has unveiled a prototype of its new Jaguar armored car. Designed to act as both a reconnaissance vehicle and tank killer, the Jaguar is even more heavily armed than the U.S. Army’s Bradley Fighting Vehicle. The vehicle was unveiled before the start of the June Eurosatory 2018 defense trade show. The ERBC Jaguar (Engin Blindé de Reconnaissance et de Combat) is a 6x6 armored car designed for both French Army reconnaissance and anti-tank units. The Jaguar is designed to replace three different vehicles in French service: the AMX-10RC reconnaissance vehicle armed with a 105-millimeter gun, ERC...

SUTHERLAND SPRINGS -- Just days before the killer opened fire killing 26 church goers he walked among them. Five days before he would gun dozens of people down, Devin Patrick Kelley showed up at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs with his children for an annual fall festival. His appearance was unexpected because of the past family troubles, but people who saw him there thought it was a sign he was turning a corner. "And they thought, 'oh this is good. This is progress,'" said Tambria Read, a longtime resident of Sutherland Springs who is good friends with Kelley's...

A Russian fighter jet flew dangerously close to a U.S. RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft on Thursday in the latest military provocation by Moscow over the Baltic Sea, the U.S. European Command said Saturday. “On April 14, a U.S. Air Force RC-135 aircraft flying a routine route in international airspace over the Baltic Sea was intercepted by a Russian Su-27 in an unsafe and unprofessional manner,” said Navy Capt. Danny Hernandez. “This intercept comes shortly after the unsafe Russian encounters with USS Donald Cook,” he added. “There have been repeated incidents over the last year where Russian military aircraft have come close...

I liked to argue on a couple lib sites in the past, and I still browse them just to see what the average lefty is talking about. I wanted to share what are 24hrs of "liberal vanities" from a larger leftist site...what topics are lib posters sharing spontaneously about...Donald Trump? ;) I didn't pick and choose, they're listed as I found them. _________________ First one blames the media for Trump's success. They shouldn't have put him on TV. Next expressing derision for Bush and preference for Trump if there were no other alternative. Why does Trump own a wind farm...

Iran has sent military submarines to the Red Sea, according to the semi-official Fars news agency. "Iranian military submarines entered the Red Sea waters with the goal of collecting information and identifying other countries' combat vessels," Fars said in a Tuesday report, citing an unidentified source. It did not say how many submarines were involved or what type they were but noted they had sailed alongside warships from the Iranian Navy's 14th fleet. State-run Press TV said in a report earlier in May that the 14th fleet – which is comprised of two vessels, the warship Bandar Abbas and the...

Marine base Camp Pendleton — one of the largest military bases in the country — is reportedly on high alert after three Middle Eastern men tried to enter the base last weekend on multiple occasions in multiple vehicles. Arizona to White House: Send us helicopters, recon dronesAaron Smith, CNNMoney.com staff writer Monday May 24, 2010, 1:04 pm EDT Unbowed by a raft of boycotts over her immigration policy, Arizona Gov. Janice Brewer has requested helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles from the White House to patrol the border region with Mexico. Brewer, in a letter to President Obama, asked that the National Guard reallocate reconnaissance helicopters and robotic surveillance craft to the "border states" from other parts of the country. The governor specifically asked for OH-58 Kiowa helicopters, used by the military for reconnaissance, noting that Arizona currently has...

The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) has increased its participation in a broadening array of multilateral security arrangements in recent years. One of the most high-profile aspects of this trend is the dramatic expansion in Chinese peacekeeping deployments (of civilian police, military observers, engineering battalions, and medical units) to United Nations operations: since 2000, when China deployed fewer than 100 peacekeepers, there has been a remarkable 20-fold increase in its contributions.

After 40 years, Marine Cpl. Jim Moshier’s remains are coming home from Vietnam to be buried between his father and the son he never saw. For the past four decades Moshier’s sister George Ann DeMarco and other members of his family have brought flowers to a bench at Hillcrest Cemetery, the only memorial the family had. Moshier’s helicopter crashed in Vietnam on June 11, 1967. When DeMarco learned her brother’s dogtags were found she pushed for a DNA test. Months later, the results were positive, and her hopes were fulfilled — her brother was coming home, in body if not...

WASHINGTON, April 12, 2007 – It was supposed to be a routine security patrol in Mosul, Iraq, the Saturday before Thanksgiving, 2005. Army Pfc. Stephen Sanford and his fellow soldiers of the Company C, 2nd Battalion, 1st Infantry Regiment, from Fort Wainwright, Alaska, planned to arrest suspected insurgents, take them back to the detention center and “relax, stretch out a bit.” Instead, squad members would find themselves in an intense firefight. “There was just this massive explosion,” Sanford said. “You could see flashes and automatic weapons fire. It was sensory overload. It was incredibly loud. You could smell the...

WASHINGTON, Nov. 22, 2006 -- “I send him off with a kiss goodbye, although I understand that he may die.” Those are words from a poem written by a third-grader named Gloria who lives with her family at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. She concludes her poem this way: “I serve too.” That child’s sentiment is the subject and title of the Pentagon Channel’s new half-hour documentary “Recon,” which premiers Nov. 24 at noon Eastern Time and will be repeated throughout the holiday season. The show will also be available via podcast, vodcast and video on demand. “Coping with...

The father of one has left other motorists stunned after shelling out £14,000 on a 1974 Sabre light reconnaissance tank. Now 42-year old Stephen uses the military vehicle instead of a car for shopping trips - zooming round at up to 40mph near his home in Winsford, Cheshire, drawing astonished looks from fellow motorists and passers-by. "Young and old alike are fascinated with it," said Stephen, a former Territorial Army soldier. "It really unites people. "The tank's 30mm gun is...
