Last week the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that they had sentenced ESI Energy for a “blatant disregard” of federal wildlife laws of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA). In their guilty plea to multiple violations, ESI admitted to the killing of at least 150 bald and golden eagles across 50 of its wind-energy facilities since 2012. Nearly all died of blunt force trauma attributable to being struck by a wind-turbine blade. The so-called “clean” energy company — a subsidiary of NextEra Energy — was fined $8 million, or about $53,300 per carcass. It turns out that the fine...

Groundbreaking audio claims Biden and Obama knew the top terrorist leader's location and schedule for years and did nothing National File can provide recordings of a conversation between former U.S. Rep. Curt Weldon (R-PA), Alan Howell Parrot, the CEO of The Union for the Conservation of Raptors (UCR), and Biden associate and attorney Brian Ettinger, in which Parrot claims he has verifiable intelligence about the whereabouts and patterns of movement of Al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden who, according to Parrot, traveled to Iran for extended stays in which he would vacation and participate in elite level falconry hunting. According...

When the NBA restarted in Orlando in the midst of the surging social justice movement, there was some concern among players that the games could become a distraction and stall the momentum of the initiative. Players have worked to keep the movement in the forefront, from kneeling during the national anthem to dedicating large segments of their media sessions to raising awareness. But some are unsure if that is enough. In the wake of the shooting of Jacob Blake by police in Wisconsin, Raptors players said they held a team meeting Tuesday in which they discussed how to take further...

Victory celebration was later marred by shooting that left 4 people injured ........ Bohari was one of more than an estimated one million people who squeezed into the city, many standing shoulder to shoulder, all to catch a glimpse of the parade motorcade that slowly crawled through Toronto's downtown core. Plans for the massive celebration were announced last week after the Toronto Raptors defeated the Golden State Warriors in Game 6 of the NBA playoffs to claim the championship for the first time in the team's 24-year history. .......... But as Raptors officials, players and political dignitaries, including Prime Minister...

The Golden State Warriors aren't letting their NBA Finals defeat or their mounting hospital bills turn them into haters. The team showed Monday it's still very much willing to show respect where it is due. The Western Conference champions took out a full page ad in the Toronto Star on Monday congratulating the Raptors on their championship, the first for a team based in Canada. The Raptors defeated Golden State in a six-game series that featured key injuries to several Warriors, including stars Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant. The print, which was timed to run on the same day as...

Jim Watson, the mayor of Ottawa, Canada, urged the Toronto Raptors to visit the Canadian Parliament instead of the White House after the team won the NBA Finals this week. Watson called on Prime Minister Trudeau to invite the team to the country’s Parliament in an online post on Friday. “Forget the White House for a victory lap. Come to Ottawa and Parliament Hill so Canada can congratulate you,” Watson wrote. It is unclear whether the White House plans to invite the championship team for visit to meet President Trump.

Durant was injured in the second quarter of Monday’s game, after getting off to a solid start in his first action since May 8, when he first hurt his lower leg during a second-round playoff game against the Houston Rockets. Meanwhile, Raptors fans were sharply criticized online for their initial reaction to his apparent injury. Philadelphia 76ers all-star Joel Embiid, watching from afar, was moved to describe the display as “disgusting” while tweeting: “Why are they cheering for his injury? Come on man.” After the game, which the Warriors managed to win despite the loss of Durant, Golden State Coach...

The opening matchup of the 2019 NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors made history last night, in more ways than one. Played before a sellout crowd in The 6, including one former Prime Minister and a very passionate Drake, Game 1 of this year’s championship series was the first to been played outside the U.S. and the first NBA Finals game to see a non-American team win. The Raptors’ 118-109 victory over the reigning champs showed that this battle for the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy isn’t going to be a walk for Steph Curry and...

Take, for instance, a wind farm in the Western Ghats region of India, where a group of researchers from the Indian Institute of Science performed their study. In the area of the wind farm, raptors were around four times less common than in other areas. They kept dying to the turbines, which is not great for the raptors but good news for fan-throated lizards, the raptors’ prey. In and around the wind farm, lizard populations exploded, completely unchecked by predation. So few of them were being eaten that they even lost almost all fear of danger. The researchers found they...

Big Wind hides evidence of turbine bird kills and gets rewarded. Here is how they do it. In 1984 the California Energy Commission .. the primary environmental issue alluded to was the extreme hazard that wind turbines posed to raptors. ... Since the early 1980s, the industry has known there is no way its propeller-style turbines could ever be safe for raptors. With exposed blade tips spinning in open space at speeds up to 200 mph, it was impossible. Wind developers also knew they would have a public relations nightmare if people ever learned how many eagles are actually being...

America's most sophisticated stealth jet fighters have been quietly deployed to an allied base less than 200 miles from Iran's mainland, according to an industry report, but the Air Force adamantly denied the jets' presence is a threat to the Middle East nation. Multiple stealth F-22 Raptors, which have never been combat-tested, are in hangars at the United Arab Emirates' Al Dafra Air Base, just a short hop over the Persian Gulf from Iran's southern border, the trade publication Aviation Week reported.

Reports: DOD deploys F-22 fighters near Iranian borderBy Carlo Munoz - 04/27/12 04:00 PM ET As tensions continue to rise between Washington and Tehran, the White House upped the ante this month by sending a squadron of advanced U.S. fighters to Iran's doorstep. The Air Force has reportedly begun rotating a squadron of F-22 Raptors to Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates. UAE is directly to the south of the Iranian coastline, separated by the Straits of Hormuz. Aviation Week first reported the details of the Raptor deployments. Air Force spokesman Capt. Phil Ventura would not confirm...

More than six weeks after the US Air Force indefinitely grounded all Lockheed Martin F-22A Raptors, the scope of the safety investigation has widened beyond the Honeywell-supplied onboard oxygen generating system (OBOGS). Although internally described as the "OBOGS safety investigation", the probe launched after the 3 May safety stand-down of the F-22A fleet is "not limited" to that particular system, Air Combat Command (ACC) said in emailed responses to questions. "We are still working to pinpoint the exact nature of the problem," the ACC said. "It is premature to definitely link the current issues to the OBOGS system." The stand-down...

The Air Force is celebrating the arrival in Hawaii of the world's most advanced fighter jet. Airmen draped two F-22 planes with giant maile lei after the jets landed at Hickam Field during a dedication ceremony Friday. A priest blessed the jets by scattering holy water on them with ti leaves. The planes are the first of 20 F-22 jets the Air Force plans to base at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam on Oahu. They will be assigned to the Hawaii Air National Guard's 154th Wing. Crews from both the Guard and the active duty Air Force's 15th Wing will jointly...
