A plane carrying former Sen. Ted Stevens and eight others crashed in remote southwest Alaska, killing the longtime Republican lawmaker and four other people, authorities said Tuesday. Ex-NASA chief Sean O'Keefe was also believed to be aboard, but it was unclear whether he was among the dead. Stevens' family has been notified that the 86-year-old was among those killed in the crash Monday night, family spokesman Mitch Rose told The Associated Press. Rescuers arrived on helicopter early Tuesday and were giving medical care to survivors, Alaska National Guard spokesman Maj. Guy Hayes said. He offered no additional details, except that...

I have no idea if I'm doing this right, so I hope somebody can fix whatever I mess up. I am so sorry for not posting sooner, but the last couple of days have been a blur. The surgery on Tuesday didn't actually start until noon even though we signed in at 7:30 am and they took Jeff to the OR around 10:30. We got our final report at 10 pm. By 11:00 pm I was able to go to his room in the ICU. He did very well during the surgery. Coming out of the anesthesia was a little...

While Jim Robinson is away for medical treatment, how about we talk about him? I'll start it off by first saying how grateful I am for this wonderful FreeRepublic.com he invented and maintains. I've met not only Jim and Sheila and John and Chris, but hundreds of Freepers, brilliant, amazingly wonderful people (including my husband) solely because of FreeRepublic.com. Let the fun begin........

Please pray for my daughter Mary, she has been in a terrible motorcycle accident. Mary is 19 and has been improving all day but not quite out of the woods yet. We have had several miracles so far and most of our prayers are in thanksgiving.

Ladyinred has been diagnosed with lung cancer and it is bad. It has been there for some time with no symptoms. She has taken a couple of Chemo treatments but they will not be able to cure this. They hope to stop the growth for as long as possible. Please also remember Chadsworth in your prayers, as he is taking this very hard. In a note to me, ladyinred said ..... "I would appreciate your prayers of course, as that is all that can really help me." As Chadsworth told me, the only thing that will make a difference is...

Hello everyone. I'd like to ask your prayers for my father-in-law (yes, I'm divorced, but he's my father-in-law and I love him dearly) as he goes in for open heart surgery Tuesday morning, East Coast Time. He's also fighting cancer, and is a believer - a minister, even! Please lift Papa Christopher up in your prayers today, and remember him during his surgery and fight for health. Thank you, and God bless you all.

After her second round of chemo, Laura bowed to the inevitable and got a buzz cut and a wig named Wanda. It's typical that the hair loss kicks in about 2 weeks after the first treatment. I know because I had my sixth chemo yesterday. I'm so jealous that she still is so beautiful without much hair! I'm 48 and reasonably attractive but me without hair is not something anyone would want to see, believe me :-)

With an estimated weekly total congregation in evangelical churches rising by 13,000 members each week in the Dublin area alone, the Catholic majority in Ireland is shifting and forming a new religious face. Greater Europe Mission (GEM), a devoted mission agency which supports church planting throughout Ireland, told the Mission News Network (MNN) about the trend. Twenty-five years ago there were...
