I applaud Sarah Palin’s passion, her adroit sense of humor, and her you-go-girl! gumption. But the more I learn about Sarah Palin, the more I become perplexed by her over-heated gender-bending rhetoric. I believe we can all agree that men and women should have equal opportunities. But let’s not confuse equal opportunities with identical outcomes. Just because a woman has the same right to an education and a decent job doesn’t mean she will pursue the identical career path, toil as long, or work as many years as a man. Men and women have differing proclivities and interests — most...

In her latest Facebook posting, former Gov. Sarah Palin continues to blame the Alaska Legislature for accepting stimulus funds, while neglecting to mention her decision to approve 97 percent of the money. If the $900 million she approved amounted to a "federal bribe with fat strings attached" that she wanted no part of, she should have vetoed it. Then, had the Legislature overridden her veto, she could logically back up her current comments about the events of 2009. As it is, her Facebook posting is an attempt to rewrite history and distort the operational structure of our state government. The...

SCRANTON, Pa. -- Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin said Tuesday that her running mate John McCain's plan to reduce or eliminate taxes and help distressed homeowners with their mortgages will "get this economy moving again." At a raucous rally in Scranton, Palin said McCain's mortgage proposal is "not a handout, but a hand up" to help financially overwhelmed Americans hang on to their homes. "This is going to get our country through a time of testing, and it's going to get the economy back on the right track," Palin said. "Under this plan, we'll help American families keep their...

Americans' view of Sarah Palin is more unfavorable now than at any time since she was the Republican vice presidential nominee. According to a poll released Friday, 52 percent now say they have an unfavorable view of the former Alaska governor, whose visibility remains high following her campaign efforts during the midterm election season. Her unfavorability rating hit 50 percent only one other time, in October 2009. Those who view Palin positively have also declined this year, from a consistent 44 percent of the public in late 2009 to 40 percent this November. She remains popular among a wide majority...

Sarah Palin has responded to a video from the pro-abortion rights group EMILY's List in which women dressed in bear costumes discuss how their "cubs" are threatened by the agenda of Palin and the candidates she supports. In a post on Facebook lauding the 90th anniversary of women's suffrage - and offering a new round of endorsements of Republican candidates - Palin complains that "I've recently come under attack for speaking up for sisters who seek to serve in public office." "The sad part is that the attack comes from other sisters who happen to be on the other side...

Slow ticket sales have bumped Sarah Palin's appearance next week in Jacksonville to a smaller venue. "An Evening of Hope with Sarah Palin" was moved from the 2,936-seat Moran Theater to the 609-seat Terry Theater. Both are part of the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts. The event is a fundraiser for Heroic Media, a faith-based nonprofit group that helps women facing unexpected pregnancy. It is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26. Mark Nelson, Florida director for Heroic Media, said the event was moved to the Terry Theatre because there weren't enough tickets sold to hold it...

Sarah Palin went on the Sean Hannity show last night and did an interview where she states that she supports the Arizona law that will question suspected illegal aliens for their legal status papers if they are stopped for a crime. There was one little tidbit that Palin let slip though that I am sure many people missed. Referring to illegal aliens Palin said "many of them want to come over here to find that Pathway to Citizenship they want". Huh? Did I just miss something? I could have swore that in October 1998 Sarah Palin told Univision she was...

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who skipped the Iowa Republican straw poll and called it a sham, re-emerged on the political scene this week with a visit to California and speech today before a veterans group in Kansas City, Mo., designed to highlight his war hero background.

The four leading Republican candidates for president have demonstrated that they have four distinct styles of flip-flopping. Mitt Romney is the most notorious flip-flopper in the field, and his most notorious flip-flop concerned abortion. He claims that a conversation with scientists about human cloning made him see how abortion had devalued human life. Nobody can prove that Romney isn’t telling the truth, but nobody quites believe him, either. Romney has also changed positions on guns, immigration, and the Employment Non-Discrimination Act. But it is not the number of his flip-flops that has impressed people so much as how they have...

3 emails: You offer no proof for a pro choice past for Thompson. Show us the clip on youtube. Oh wait there is not one? NRLC endorsed Thompson? The truth is sir that you look rather sad and silly to those who remember your earlier "debate" with Thompson regarding federalism where he humbled you. You want YouTube? Here you go. Hi just read your interesting article on national review online on GOP flip floppers. However, the paragraph on Thompson was confusing. Are you saying he used to be Pro-choice and he has changed his position and is lying about it?...

The Associated Press NASHVILLE -- Tennessee's two Republican senators on Thursday voted in Washington against a non-binding resolution calling for continued support of the Supreme Court's 1973 Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion. Sen. Bill Frist said the landmark decision is flawed; Sen. Fred Thompson said the Supreme Court should be left alone on the issue."I'm The vote came on a resolution by Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa. The resolution said: "It is the sense of the Congress that Roe v. Wade was an appropriate decision and secures an important constitutional right and such a decision should not be overturned." A...

DENVER (AP) — James Dobson, one of the nation's most politically influential evangelical Christians, made it clear in a message to friends this week he will not support Republican presidential hopeful Fred Thompson. In a private e-mail obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press, Dobson accuses the former Tennessee senator and actor of being weak on the campaign trail and wrong on issues dear to social conservatives. "Isn't Thompson the candidate who is opposed to a Constitutional amendment to protect marriage, believes there should be 50 different definitions of marriage in the U.S., favors McCain-Feingold, won't talk at all about what...

Almost immediately following the launch of Fred Thompson's long-anticipated presidential candidacy, important neutral Republicans decreed privately that it had crashed and burned on takeoff. Many of these critics had wanted to board the Thompson campaign but were repelled by his "gatekeepers." That helps explain their attitude now, and not merely because of any bruised feelings caused by their exclusion. Thompson's late start is not in itself a fatal flaw. Still, it had been conceded in party circles that when Thompson finally became a candidate, his beginning needed to be memorable. It was not. While Thompson offered obligatory conservative slogans in...

As more and more of his potential supporters learn about Fred Thompson's choice of open borders advocate and pro-Islamist ex-senator and lobbyist Spencer Abraham as his campaign manager, Thompson's luster as th egreat GOP savior has begun to dim precipitously. Latest to weigh in are Dymphna at Gates of Vienna, Elaine at Aaron's Rod ( who removed all the Blogs For Fred links to her site) and Deb at Right Truth. And Michelle Malkin also did a short bit with Laura Ingraham on her national show. As I said in my piece, no one who's serious about winning the War...
