INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Touting President Joe Biden’s ‘Investing in America’ agenda, and speculation that he may be selected as a VP candidate, U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg will visit Central Indiana next week. The exact location of the visit to Central Indiana is not mentioned in a press release issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation, other than it is a ‘future EV battery manufacturing facility in Indiana.’ Buttigieg is the former mayor of South Bend, Ind.

MATTESON, Ill. (WLS) -- A train derailed Thursday morning in far south suburban Matteson, a spokesman for the village said. Chopper 7 was over the scene about 11:30 a.m., and multiple cars were derailed in the area of 21740 Main St. The spokesman said the train involved is from the Canadian National Railway Company. Buttigieg has come under fire lately for his mishandling of a toxic trail derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. He has also been slammed for being on unannounced parental leave during the cargo crisis of 2021, and for being on vacation in Portugal last year as a rail strike loomed — while pretending that he was still in the country.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Thursday apologized after losing his “train of thought” while speaking to the press in East Palestine, Ohio. His act of contrition came nearly three weeks after the toxic train derailment devastated the local community there.
