Air Travel Debacles Put a Star of Biden's Cabinet in the Hot Seat

WASHINGTON — Appearing on late-night television in September, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg expressed confidence that airlines would improve their performance after a dismal summer of flight delays and cancellations.

“I think it’s going to get better by the holidays,” Buttigieg told the host, James Corden.

His prediction did not age well.

Until the past few weeks, Buttigieg, 41, had enjoyed a relatively smooth glide as transportation secretary. He has traveled the country promoting the $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure law, appearing with grateful local leaders to trumpet the money headed their way.

But the recent aviation woes present a formidable challenge for a Cabinet member whose prior managerial experience came on a far smaller stage.

Buttigieg’s status as an ascendant figure in the Democratic Party has also made him a prime target for Republicans, who eagerly skewered him after the FAA outage grounded flights. “Pete Buttigieg couldn’t organize a one-car funeral,” Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., wrote on Twitter last week.

The 2024 Dem nominee will be either CA gov Newsome or MD gov Wes Moore.

Buttigieg made the mistake of taking a cabinet position that would enable the public to see how incompetent he is; he should have taken Education or Labor, where he wouldn’t get blamed for the perpetual snafus.

I’ll bet. SecTrans is not much of a spring-board to higher office. Best case scenario, nothing goes wrong, and nothing needs to be done.

Only the leftist NYT and radical democrats would consider Buttigieg a “star”. Don’t think there has ever been a more incompetent Sec of Trans.

Pete Buttigieg couldn’t organize a one-car funeral.

Dollars to a donut he has that job as part of a promise to drop out of the primaries back in 2020. He was inept as the Mayor of South Bend, what made Biden think he could run Transportation? Nothing, but he hoped he could hide him away but point to him for the LBGT community to keep their votes. Alas, Buttigieg has done nothing for the supply chain crisis, starting at our ports and continuing to the FAA problems more recently. Evidently, the Democrats got what they paid for.
