In “America By Heart” folks will get a feel for some of my favorite writers and thinkers. One of them is the great economist Thomas Sowell. Some of you may recall that in “Going Rogue” I mentioned Sowell’s famous book “A Conflict of Visions” to explain the way the liberal or “progressive” world view and philosophy differs from the conservative view. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) praised former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) on Sunday, calling her an "incredible force" in American politics, but stopped short of calling her a parallel to former president Reagan. "I think that anybody who has the visibility that Sarah has is obviously going to have some divisiveness," he said, adding that "a guy named Ronald Reagan used to be viewed by some as divisive."

Very much in command of the facts, quick, firm and clear. A bit less folksy, yakkity blather and more to the point with a more 'serious' demeanor. Which is good. If I could give one word of advice to this talented and quick-minded woman, I would tell her to rachet down the bubbly quotient slightly. She needs to be perceived as serious.... blending with her natural accessibility and warm personality. She needs to occasionally set her jaw in conviction without breaking into the girly smile and deliver her obviously deeply held positions with authority. She's got the content down 110%,...

I have followed this controversy and to be fair, I found the objections to it to be a little thin, but most of us don't live in Alaska and are not famliar with the subtle tones of their ethics laws and issues. I will say this, IMO most if not al of the problems with it could have been avoided early on but Palin in concert with her advisors made several bad decisions...
