The collapse took place around 9 a.m. at the site of the former Killen Generating Station along U.S. 52. Officials said the building was in the middle of a demolition when the awning of the plant collapsed. Adams County Sheriff Kim Rogers said, initially, five people were unaccounted for following the collapse. Three of the five people have since been located and taken to the hospital for treatment. Two were taken to the hospital early on, and a third was taken to an area hospital after being buried under the rubble for hours. The first two are expected to be...

An Ohio bill recognizing the humanity of unborn babies killed in abortions is on its way to Gov. Mike DeWine’s desk after the state Senate passed it Wednesday. The final vote on the Unborn Child Dignity Act was 23-7, according to Cleveland.com. The state House passed the bill last week, and DeWine, a pro-life Republican, is expected to sign it into law. “This important piece of pro-life legislation is now headed to the Governor’s desk!” Ohio Right to Life wrote on Twitter after the vote. The legislation requires the Ohio Department of Health to establish rules for the proper and...

Former Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) said Wednesday on CNN’s “Newsroom” that “enough is enough,” adding that President Donald Trump and Republicans needed to accept former Vice President Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election. In a video, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) said, “Even after this office request that President Trump try and quell the violent rhetoric being born out of his continuing claims of winning the states where he obviously lost, he tweeted out, ‘Expose the massive voter fraud in Georgia.’ This is exactly the kind of language that’s at the base for a growing threat environment...

John Kasich, the former Ohio governor who unsuccessfully ran for president in 2016, said Sunday that he found it “amazing” that fellow Republicans are “sitting on their hands” and refusing to defend the integrity of the election against President Donald Trump. Kasich, a frequent Trump critic, said on National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered” that he believes the lack of action is because Republicans are “either in complete lockstep” with Trump - “or they’re afraid of him.” The GOP’s part in enabling Trump is “extremely disappointing for someone who has been a Republican all of my life,” he added. Kasich...

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Court of Claims has ordered the Ohio Department of Health to release data about daily hospital staffing levels, medical supplies and bed capacity as the coronavirus pandemic continues. The court ruled this week in favor of Eye on Ohio, Ohio Center for Investigative Journalism, which sued after it was denied a data request submitted in March. In rejecting the records request, the Ohio Department of Health argued the data are security records exempted from disclosure under the state’s public records law. The information tracked through the Ohio Department of Health’s data-gathering software, Surgenet, is for...

(CNN)Ohio Republican Gov. Mike DeWine said Thursday that the country needs to consider Joe Biden the President-elect -- joining a growing list of Republican allies to President Donald Trump who say the 2020 race is over. "I think that we need to consider the former vice president as the President-elect. Joe Biden is the President-elect," DeWine told CNN's John Berman on "New Day." DeWine, who endorsed Trump for a second term, said that the President and his campaign have "every right" to bring legal challenges contesting the election results, and that the courts "are the best place, frankly, to adjudicate...

Another statewide race trended positively for pro-life Ohio Supreme Court Justice Sharon Kennedy. Defying polling expectations pro-life Republicans not only maintained control of the Ohio House and Senate, they increased their super majorities in both chambers. “Last night, voters resoundingly affirmed what we already know- Ohio is pro-life,” said Mike Gonidakis, president of Ohio Right to Life. “Regardless of what lies Planned Parenthood and their allies would want you to believe, the results of last night’s election prove that Ohioans continue to vote their values...

Mishkin, 65, would seem an unlikely election analyst for the news network that is closely associated with the Republican Party. A registered Democrat, both his parents were Holocaust survivors, as he detailed in a speech to his Upper West Side synagogue B’nai Jeshurun in 2001. His father was the physics and engineering professor Eli Mishkin, whose obituary said he was the first person to receive a doctorate from the Israel Institute of Technology. His mother Esther volunteered at YIVO, the institute for Jewish research that preserves European Jewish history. Tuesday night wasn’t the first time Mishkin angered Republican politicians tracking...

    1. The early returns Most of the early vote, mailed in or conducted in person, will be among the first results released soon after polls close at 7:30 p.m. When you see a vote total with 0% of the precincts reporting, these are votes each Board of Elections had in hand by Election Day. Historically, this is a pretty good indicator of how the final tally will turn out. A cleveland.com analysis of this early vote in local elections for Cuyahoga County last year found the typical swing from this first count until the end of the night was just...

Ohio’s most populous county, Franklin, switched to paper poll books after experiencing technical difficulties on Election Day, Secretary of State Frank LaRose said Tuesday. Officials warned residents to brace for long lines and wait times early on election morning when polling workers began using the old-fashioned method to check in voters after learning that their electronic check-in system was not fully updated with new data. "It's important to note that this does NOT impact voting machines in any way, and only modifies how voters are checked in," a spokesperson for La Rose said on Twitter.

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Health and elections officials in Cuyahoga County are urging voters diagnosed with COVID-19, or voters who feel ill, to use Ohio’s curbside voting option on Tuesday. Though curbside voting is a long-standing practice in Ohio and available to everyone, the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections and Board of Health want ill voters to exercise the option this year, as coronavirus infections skyrocket across the state. “For someone that is ill or has been diagnosed with COVID, we STRONGLY encourage you to utilize the ‘curbside voting’ option,” a Board of Health spokeswoman told The Plain Dealer and cleveland.com...

resident Trump has moved three points ahead of Democrat Joe Biden in Ohio, a state that is key to Trump’s hopes of staying in the White House. A new Rasmussen Reports telephone and online survey of Likely Voters in Ohio shows Trump with 48% support to Biden’s 45%. Two weeks ago, Biden was leading Trump 48% to 46%. Three percent (3%) like some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are still undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.) Factor in those who haven’t made up their minds yet but are leaning toward one candidate or the other, and Trump...

I hate (and I do mean HATE) the trend of journalists, analysts, and commentators rushing to the closest television camera or website to make their Nostradamus-like forecast of what is going to happen on Election Day. When did the craft of journalism include the fine art of prognostication? (I mean, other than suggesting whether or not you should take the three points on the Lions at home this weekend... spoiler alert: Yes, you should.) I personally detest every smart guy and gal telling you what's about to happen on Election Day rather than analyzing what is actually happening right now and...

One Cincinnati family is keeping a close count of the political signs dotting the front yards of their suburban neighborhood. The signs supporting President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden are of special interest to the father and son, who tally up the number of signs for each candidate while driving around their neighborhood and report the numbers to the mother. With one week remaining until Election Day, suburban voters—particularly suburban women—are of special interest to both campaigns and could be a deciding factor in the presidential election. Trump has made countless pleas to suburban women this election...
  • Smashing “Whiteness” in the Classroom. Ohio’s education department offered—and withdrew, at least for now—a startling collection of “antiracist” teaching supplements.

Ohio may be a red state with a Republican governor and state legislature, but the Ohio Department of Education kicked off this school year by promoting far-left, racialist, anti-police propaganda in the form of its recommended “Anti-Racist Allyship Starter Pack,” a resource for social studies teachers. The starter pack contains about 200 links to “antiracist” op-eds, essays, and blog posts, which exemplify what President Trump meant when he spoke of a “left-wing cultural revolution” in our schools “designed to overthrow the American revolution” in favor of “far-left fascism.” The ODE recommended an article on “The Souls of White Folk.” The...
